You get per diem for every hr you're away from base. But yeah the only way to get 1 or 2 day trips is if you pick it up in open time or take someone's partial drop at straight pay on your days off. I did just do a 2 day out of lga on my days off at 22hrs of credit last month. Shortest trip you might get is 3 days when you can hold a line. Nyc is gonna be a while just because it's slowly coming back. Expecting avg 100 departures a day in Sept til Dec out of just lga. Haven't looked at jfk yet.
When I say 3 day trip that will mostly happen once a month with some 4-5 day trips included

How many departures out of LGA and JFK pre Covid? It was a few hundred something? The trips out of NYC still beat ATL.

Then get your hours at Endeavor and apply to Allegiant, it’s tough to be picky to your needs in this market right now. We have a ton of 1-2-3 day trips at SkyWest, 4 days are surprisingly not as junior as you’d imagine due to commuters wanting them for efficiency purposes. No 5 day trips, actually interesting to hear you guys only have 4-5 day trips. With the positive space and longer trips, it seems well set up for commuters. If I lived 15 minutes away from the airport I’d be fairly upset being assigned 5 day trips.
I am currently in FL and was planning to just switch to NY(super against commuting) but doesn’t make sense now especially with bases closing down every other day.

Honestly, if that’s the case then i am thinking about picking a 135 gig(fly exclusive, etc) fly 8/7, be home based + better pay and skip the regionals altogether and then go to majors from there. Only thing is would need to scoop up atp/ctp cost

* what is the average rest time between those trips tho?

i don’t know. Somehow it feels better to me to either do short 1,2 day trips OR a week long on road and then get a week off. Not being picky just somehow the 3,4,5 day trips seems not the best imo. I guess to each his own.

You don't have to go to a regional, but it certainly helps. Flying 135, you'll be lucky to do 500 hours a year. Do the math.
