Has nothing to do with discussing a topic, its a matter of actually knowing what you are talking about.

Right. Because they teach financial performance metrics, operational strategy, and business planning in DMA ground. It has nothing to do with another empty attempt at generating more clout on APC. Please don't stop enlightening us with this arcane wisdom of yours...

Interesting discussion here... Embraer technically does have the new E2 variant available for the 175 with those shiny new PW geared engines, but they sort of shot themselves in the foot by increasing the max weight to 98,000.

They had to because geared engines are much heavier then non-geared turbofans. To relize the economical gains you need to up the weights, nothing is free in aviation. The MRJ suffered the same problem, they tried to make the jet lighter for scope clause by reducing fuel and range (hard sell), it ultimately was shelved for numerouse technical and production issues.

Awesome, plenty of mainline pilots would be happy to fly them.

I believe most of the 700 fleet is nearing 20 years.

it was actually the missed approach procedure that was the problem and not the balked landing. I was an ASE CA at SkyWest when they were testing the 175 with the FAA. It could not meet the 13DME from Red Table VOR to join the LDA outbound. It went passed the 13DME.
I was also expecting the balked to be the problem but it seemed to handle that well. They were rumors that SkyWest would ask Embraer to make a software change to give a 3rd engine thrust capability which would run a little higher.

Here is how this works, so pay attention. I was told I didn't know what I was talking about, EVER. So, in response to this, I did respond showing that I do indeed know what I am talking about. Now, if this is a problem for you, then you can always go back to watching Rick and Morty.

Got it? Good.

Is mainline going to buy them, though? The A220 being Airbus makes the choice a little easier for mainline. And I'm not sure Airbus if Airbus is done with the development of that airframe.

DL? Probably not, they have 220 as you say. But AA and UA? Maybe. American had the 190 up to Covid. 195 is a pretty large jet.
