I really have no idea what the plans for 9E are, or will be. I do know that living 5 minutes from my base, and near family works well for me. If they give me a retention bonus, fine. If they give me an interview at DL and I get hired, great. If they furlough me, I'll look for another job. Going to another regional for "the quick upgrade time" is only worth it if something else about the switch is also good. For instance, you are from XYZ and that is also the junior base at the new company. Then you have some contingency in your plan. So basically I think that most of us are doing the right thing: going to other regionals where the situation is good for them and maybe a quick upgrade... or staying at 9E if the situation is good (for a few like me) and maybe an upgrade (if all their desperate measures work).

Unfortunately, you'll be able to watch your career stagnate and back slide from the convenience of a 5 minute commute.

Don't get too comfortable. Remember that you didn't get into this career to be at a regional for 10+ years. You control your destiny, don't leave it up to Endeavor and Delta.

Those that remain, won't leave until properly motivated. For me it was the bankruptcy, a base closure, and a drastically shrinking fleet. Sure I was always thinking about moving on, but it took those circumstances to really get me motivated to improve my situation and secure a better future.

By choosing to stay at a regional, it shows major lack of vision for your career. Aspiring to be a regional pilot does not look that great on your resume. If/when you get an interview at a true destination career, the longer you have intentionally stayed at a regional, the worse it looks that you truly desire to move up in your career. It paints a picture that you lack initiative.

This time in history is a golden opportunity to move up through an LCC, tier 2 airline or cargo carrier to improve your resume. Or, if fortunate enough, hire straight into a legacy airline.

1st year reserve at a legacy will give you more days off and more money than any position at Endeavor. Then it just goes up and up every year after that.

Why in the heck any pilot at Endeavor would intentionally stay and not fight for a job that flies less legs per day, better hotels, more days off and $150,000 a year just a few years after being hired, is total insanity.

Nobody has said not to go to an LCC or other carrier as a move up. The lateral moves to other regionals is the movement driving the retention plan.

Can you blame them for making lateral moves?

Well, in some cases it doesn't seem to smart. Has anyone considered the fact that Delta will go down to 125 50 seat planes for scope, and that American, and United will also be parking 50 seat planes, or for that matter the Air Wisconsin agreement with US Airways has not and possibly will not be renegotiated?

What doesn't seem smart is staying at 9E. Anyone who has left, fired, quit has ended up somewhere better or landed where they wanted to be. Concessions were sold on lies and at the expense of the junior guys. You guys sold out the FO's with the last TA, capped them out, putting their careers and families in a difficult situation to make ends meet. All for the "flow" ssp to the mother land. A better concession TA was there but anyways, I encourage all the FO's to bail and don't look back. If you listen to these goons to stay, just remember they need you for their purpose. Take care of yourself and make it happen. Get out of the whipsaw rat race. Ask yourself, how do you win $$ on a poker table? Have a strategy and bid high. Same in the current situation. Get out, upgrade , bail. If you wait to long , the band wagon wheel will fall off the you have missed the train.

Where do you come up with this stuff? Nobody sold out the Fo's. The vote was 85% for, so if every FO voted no it wouldn't have passed.

This is kind of funny. You say get out of the whipsaw but yet you want them to make a lateral move. Hmm I am pretty sure that is part of all this whipsaw stuff. People giveing up 7 years to start at 1 year because they can get a faster upgrade. So what do you think the majors will keep doing. Oh yea thats right why not just keep shuffling planes around so the pilots chase them. We do not know what will happen at any of these airlines. All we do know is that things change and they can change fast. Some will be for the better some will be for the worse. The ones that are all about being negative about Endeavor you are quick to see the positive changes at your new airline but you can not accept the positive that has happened here now. Is it great no, is there still a lot of risk here yes. But is there risk when you make a lateral move?
