No. They cleaned out all the people who pulled that crap years ago. The few original Pinnacle guys who remain in the training department play by the rules and are fair.

Anyone else notice on 2/17 flt ops update
RE has our hiring goal for 2017 at around 85 hires/month
for the year ahead?
Thought it was 60.
That's a lot of pilots for only 14 new AC???

I think that number was for CJO's not actual new hires.

Oh people have complained and been shouted down, because at Pinnacle they fostered a combative and exclusive mentality, and pilots bought in. Until Mesaba came and kicked the furniture over, they were locked into overbearing mjcromanagement of technique. I remember going through and being told by Pinnacle guys that was what a "real training department" was, and "what was I worried about?" because i passed fine. Oh how those days are over, and those same idiots get caught saying "how much better it is now".

I can't get through a company picnic at this company without some old Pinnacle guy graciously thanking TW or RE for fixing the training department and its been 2 years (more?) since.

The Pinnacle training department was garbage and a racket. Once guys failed once and the word was out that they weren't good enough, it was scavengers on dead meat. Ask some of the older reps about the fired pilots BW brought back after flushing the Pinnacle toilet.

In other news, we now have 4 EV birds. One is flying, two are in MSP hangar and one is in OKC.

What I can't understand is the difference in FSDO's. Not a lot of standardization required between part 121 training departments. The Pinnacle training department was night and day different from at least the Mesaba training department. In my mind we would've gotten more mileage from requiring more standardized training departments throughout the industry, rather than changing the requirements for flight time and ATP. In my opinion, most if not all the accidents the last 10 years didn't come from lack of experience. But rather, problems in the training environment

I just hope the new fleet manager has the fortitude to require the LCPs to stop applying personal agendas to training. That's still the number 1 complaint I get from new FOs off of OE. One says this way, the other that way. They try to overload everything about operating the CRJ on leg 1, etc. there's should be an easier, standardized way of training these cats. The rest they can pick up on the line.

That's a symptom a changing books. Going to the Delta way is quirky on a 900 when you don't have autothrottles and vnav, though it appears we've made enough modifications that we're able to sort of fly it now how the book demands. We could always increase line checks and feedback for new guys, it would probably clean me up a bit too.
