Don't pick by aircraft. Pick by base and seniority. Read:QOL. Everyone will get to fly the -900 if they want. The -200 isn't bad, it's like driving a Miata. Fun for a little while before you get the expedition.

Depends on a couple of factors; your age in class (seniority selection of both base and aircraft) as well as what is needed in what base. You may bid and get your base of choice, but it may only have 200s available. Or you may have to take an unwanted base, but get the 900.

As Higney said, go for the base. Either where you live for best QoL, or the easiest commute if you cannot live IN base.

I am reading the quicktake on the site and wonder if someone can confirm what "Reserve pilots are allowed to base during call out window on the first day" means?

The way I read that is on day 1 of reserve I am allowed to commute on that day. Can anyone confirm or deny? I've been through the contract and am having a hard time finding the reference.

Cheers.

I don't quite know the answer, but I've seen mentions of that depending on when your reserve period starts.

That was negotiated in the last LOA. You have to coordinate with crew scheduling, but the new provision allows for you to commute during the call out period of your first day of reserve. You just need to be ready to go once you hit the airport if they need you for a flight.

You basically get to use your callout time (1:45 all bases other than NYC, NYC is 2:00) to commute in...so basically if your reserve period starts at 10:00 AM and you are commuting to NYC you can coordinate an arrival that gets you in by 12:00. Like someone else said you just have to be ready to head to a flight after you hit the ground if they need you

What are the ramifications if you don't get on that flight that arrives by 12? Especially during your probationary year. Say you tried for the flight that arrives at 10 and 12, are you covered by calling in saying you've tried twice?

First miscommute is ok. Second one for the year onwards has to go through a commuting board. Basically if it happens repeatedly they make you have to commute on 3 options.

It's kind of weird for me because if I want to commute in the first morning I have to two leg it as my first option. I feel like it increases the risk of a miscommute (2 flights to get delayed, break down, etc.) especially since the 2nd option is a nonstop Endeavor flight usually with good loads.

I wouldn't mind if they revisited our commuter clause in the near future.

You also need to call scheduling after your first option doesn't work. They will either tell you to just keep trying or possibly positive space you on your second flight if it's a Delta flight. You have to call though to qualify for the Call In Honest program.

Has the -200 initial been approved for AQP yet?
