Quoting from the AA thread:

“There’s a backlog between indoc and sims pushing a little over a month...they don’t want it to increase higher than that so a couple classes of smaller sizes will help and then it should pick up again. The source did not seem sure of themselves but he did work at the school house... this was what I was told about a week ago.”

Quote: Highly unlikely. But if that helps you sleep better at night then more power to ya. But the fact is there are PLENTY of squadron buddies and other military guys out there still waiting for a call. Civilian OTS hires might increase a bit, but nowhere near the amount that you're hoping they will. AA management has already been on the record at a town hall meeting in the past that they want to secure the majority of non flow slots for military pilots. Not to mention, it's only February and they've already fallen behind on hiring.
At least 60 are coming from PSA for the additional hires.

In 2017 there were 52 flows from PSA.

Is what you are saying at least 60 total for PSA for 2018? That would be about 8 more.

Or is it 60 more, in addition to the 52? If so that would be at least 112 total from PSA.

Beginning in March PSA begins flowing 10 /month and we are negotiating to increase that to somewhere in the 15 /month ballpark to put us inline with yours and Piedmont’s contractual flow language.

Quote: That makes absolutely no sense. The flow will in no way slow you down from getting to a major. It's there if you need it. The opportunity is still there to get PIC time as quickly as your heart desires to be able to beef up your resume to try to get on with Delta, United, Fedex, UPS, and SWA. And if you wanna talk about getting on with AA specifically, your chances at getting on outside of the flow without being military are pretty slim anyway. In 2017, AA hired a whopping 60 pilots that weren't prior military or flows. So yes, if you're banking 100% on the flow getting you to AA, then you've got a long wait ahead of you. But flying at Envoy and keeping the flow in your back pocket will do you no extra harm or extra good at getting you to one of the other majors more so than flying for any regional. Now, the flow may not be a the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow for someone hired today, but saying that the flow is in any way a negative thing to have is absurd.
Pretty sure you didn’t read anything I wrote. I never said it wasn’t a good insurance policy but rather, in my opinion, there may be faster ways to get to mainline than the flow.

This will get your blood boiling in sure,

I read on the AA forum a while ago that a guy retiring from the military got called for his interview, he did his 20 years.

During the interview he was very candid and let them know he hasn’t flown in over 12 years, working a desk position. They interview committee said don’t worry, it’s a non-issue.

He got the welcome aboard call a few days later.

They love military guys. People who ask me how to become and airline pilot I tell them to graduate college, go to the military and fly heavies. Then after 8yrs apply to any major you want and you will be called within 1month. 8yrs in military or 8yrs at a regional....

A guy that flew the same corporate airplane before me and had zero 121 time and a DUI got a interview call and a job at AA back in November2017. He told them about the DUI and they said it didn’t matter and he got the job. He knew a couple people there but no big shot executive that I’m aware of.

Alright I’m convinced! I will add a DUI to my resume and see what happens. I’ve run out of other options and boxes to check.

Sorry if this was already brought up elsewhere, but doesn't the fact that we are short on CA's and fat on FO's negatively impact flow? If we don't have FO's upgrading, there are fewer captains to flow, therefore pushing back everyone's timeline. Granted it's understandable why FO's are not wanting to force upgrade, but it's just a thought. I'll hang up and listen.
