Debating between jumping ship at RPA and switching to Envoy before I start military pilot training in the spring. I’m an FO currently at RPA with good seniority, but I’m coming back off of military leave and training is backed up. I want to go to American and the flow, bonuses, and ORD/MIA bases at Envoy are attractive. I’m typed in the 175 so hoping that might help get me the 175 if I decide to come. Pros Cons? Worth staying at Republic if I want to get to American down the road or will my military time make it irrelevant to need to go to a WO? And are the current FO bonuses worth it?

If you want to go to AA go to a WO, your 175 type won’t get you the 175 but your 121 experience will give you preference above those without, however you’ll still be under the cadets. Classes have been heavier on the 175 than 145 your chances of getting 175 are pretty good now that classes aren’t all cadets again. You’ll definitely get Chicago if you want it and should be able to achieve Miami pretty quickly. I also did a year at republic after college and like it much more here. The forum trolls here definitely don’t represent the actual company culture.

Is that how long it takes to hold a line at MIA or just to even get it? I thought I saw on the class drop list they offered 4 175 slots to any base so it sounded like MIA was possible right out of training.

I didn't say it wasn't possible, just that it's not a smart thing to bank on. You'd have to upgrade on the 175 if you didn't get it on initial training.

Cadets pick first. They're going to take 175 spots. I think you're WAY more likely to get 145. MIA isn't a 145 base. FOs can't bid jet to jet so you'd be stuck in DFW or ORD until you upgrade.

I know of quite a few people that picked first ahead of cadets in Monday’s class.
