I was under 200 first year trying to fly. You could fly close to 1000 in your first year (after IOE) if you got the 175 and picked up all the OT you could.

Seriously doubt if you could get anything close to that at Envoy. Doesn’t matter what the base or aircraft. Schedules are just not efficient enough and picking up OT is so hit and miss. Too many deadheads, lost days, misconnects, etc.

As a non-military pilot, you have a far better chance of getting to AA from a WO than you do from SkyWest, as only 42 pilots hired OTS at AA this year (end of October stats) were civilian-trained. I’m not sure of the WO street hires’ backgrounds, so there may be some overlap between the WO street hires and those 42.

Even if flowing isn’t your plan, it’s not a bad back up plan.
The OPs point was being at a wholly owned, maybe, helps being hired as OTS at AA, before the flow. And that's simply not the case. AA is very reluctant to cannibalize its cheap pilot labor flying AA routes. So, as you said, only a handful get lucky, and from my experience, I've only known one CA get through the front door and that was because he checked all the boxes, military, glowing recommendations within AA, etc. Most everyone else is hoping for about 7-8 year wait, as long as AA is filling classes consistently during those years. In the meantime, you've got poor quality of life and multi- leg days for very little credit, and a management that......

We have the same thing on our max line range option. There's an option to request 85+ hours, and there's a separate option to get paid the 150% for everything over 85 hours.

I’ve never heard of this. Could someone shed some light?

Thanks for the replies on the potential annual flight hours. I am military FW and looking get to majors with maybe a short stint in the regionals. At sky ball AA chief pilot strongly mentioned several times, if you want to get to AA, work for a WO. Either for the full flow or out of flow. Thanks for the input. Surprised to hear so much negatively written about Envoy.

On the 175 you can if you get lucky with your timing and spend minimal time on reserve. It's only 83 hours a month block. It's not hard to average that as a lineholder if you want.

We are so overstaffed right now with 175 FOs that a new hire probably wont be able to do that. Reserve times are much longer now than a year ago.

Except we have critical coverage next month for OFL.

And 3 more aircraft a month next year, and 20 more aircraft coming from Compass.

Today’s staffing levels cannot be used to predict tomorrow’s flight time.

Don’t be surprised at the negativity in online forums, especially this one. The unhappy Envoy pilots are significantly over represented on APC forums. Try talking to Envoy pilots irl. You’ll get a much better story.
