New hire at Envoy today... let's say you flow in 8 years, that means AA will have 8000+ people on the seniority list above you that aren't on that list today. And mainline AA pilots aren't exactly the happiest group of people walking around the terminal.
Not really, no. I enjoy The Envoy.
The flow train is rolling really well right now, especially with outside attrition. But I'm also old enough to remember 2008 and 9/11, and that can stop that train on its tracks.
Without a black swan event, 6 years is pretty realistic. With one, who the heck knows.
The flow is a good backup, but like I said, do what you can to beat it. Ideally you want to be hired at AA before 2025. After that, you'll be on the wrong side of the wave.

So I’ve got a 4 day followed by 3 days of reserve next month. Is there a way to request which day to drop for the 7 day conflict or do they just drop the last day?

Selection means basically nothing. The only thing that happens is the Decision Site says "Awarded". 45ish days prior to your class date, you'll get the actual letter from AA which is your CJO. Within the next week or two of getting your CJO, you'll get the info to schedule your drug test and fingerprinting. Around the same time you'll get an email from a third party vendor that does a background check on your education, address history and criminal history. A week or so after that you'll get an email with directions on how to complete additional new hire paperwork. Closer to your class date, you'll get an email directing you to filling out the first week's orientation paperwork which includes setting up travel to DFW, hotel, and your guest that you'll be bringing to orientation and the new hire dinner. And the info that you'll be dying to get the most, the equipment/base drop for your class, you get the Thursday before before your class date.

You can call scheduling but they will put it wherever they want. If you tell them what day you want, it probably won't be that day. If you are a commuter, it will probably be day 6 so you have to stay for one day or reserve.

It will most likely fall on the most inconvenient time for you.

I’m assuming it’s a transition conflict. What did you select on your bid for transition?

If you re a commuter which would require coming in the day before or leaving for home the day after... It s almost a guarantee. CS seems to enjoy it.

Are we talking about floating single reserve days?

Once the TL populates on your schedule call swaps and drops. I have had good luck with them moving it. They don’t have to, just be humble, and I’ll bet they work with you.
