It’s a different format now and people are upset that it isn’t a grade to proficiency. Four failed last week in recurrent.

Instead of going over all the systems and then taking a KV. You take KV first thing day 2 and the rest of that day is spent going over class deficiencies. So people who were used to learning the systems in class prior to taking a test will be in for a surprise if they don't study prior to coming to recurrent.

Is the process spelled out anywhere regarding these changes? Would be nice to have some guidance on this prior to going for recurrent or upgrade.

Yes in the new aqp guide. Let’s be honest though, I know a lot of people who do zero studying going into recurrent besides the cbts, and they show up and find a way to pass. So I’m guessing the 4 individuals that failed last week most likely looked at nothing going into recurrent.

Yeah thanks for that, just found it. To the companies credit, I found that reading through it provides ample explanation for every step of the process and anyone that shows up and fails due to ignorance of the process is at fault.

The problem however is making sure people are aware of this and use it as a resource.

The online KV that had been used previously allowed unlimited attempts and was, by nature, open book. This is a big change amounting to the addition of a jeopardy event and they haven’t discussed it at all in the AQP book, besides saying a KV will be done on day 2. Surprised ALPA isn’t on this.

Well in practice the KV not being open book has been going on at least since March when I went through recurrent. In fact this entire format was exactly how my recurrent was. When I first read the initial post I was misunderstood in thinking this was something new.

I’m addition they do discuss it in the document and state that you need an 80% to pass and the class will review the most common areas of deficiencies that afternoon. Lastly if you don’t pass you will receive focused training before moving on.

Isn't it pretty obvious in the AQP book? KV on day 2, 80% or better and you will need remedial training before you can retake it if you fail.

I looked again and still don’t see it.

The test you take in class has never been open book. The new one is longer as it covers all the systems.
