The Alaska window is indeed open, but it's worth looking deeper than that first year payrate. The really short version is that Alaska is not the career destination that it might have once been. There are a number of FOs leaving with 2-3 years of seniority for Delta, United, and American having figured that it simply isn't worth staying (someone I know well ran the numbers and calculated that staying meant leaving at least $1 million on the table over 25 years; she left Alaska on third year pay, broke even second year at the Widget, and is now well ahead on pay and retirement vs if she had stayed). It's not just cash either, but going into contract time, it's things such as lack of scope, lack of trip trades, poor reserve rules, antagonistic management, etc.

So, if you're West Coast and need SEA/SFO/LAX, fine, but treat the Eskimo like the stepping stone that it is and keep pursuing the big leagues. Including the carrier that you just gave up flow to.

Here's the job post from Alaska Pilot Recruitment: "We're excited to announce that we'll be accepting pilot applications three times in the next few months so you’ll have more opportunities to apply this year. It will also help us to manage the high volume of applications we receive. Here’s the deal: the same job will post at the beginning of July, August, and October -- so if you’re not ready until fall, you’ll still have an opportunity to submit an application. And since this will be the same job posting, you’ll only need to submit your application once. It also means that you won’t be able to update it, so if you’re still building hours, waiting until October may be a great option.

The dates when you may submit your application at https://alaskaair.jobs are:
• July 1–8, 2019
• July 29–August 5, 2019
• October 1–8, 2019

It's important to remember that you can only apply once during these dates, and you won't be able to update your application once submitted."

Hey I've been stalking the forums for about a month since I've been looking into Envoy for the flow after I graduated and start with ATP for flight school.... this is just a thought. Would it be legal to take advantage of Envoy until I get about 3000 hours and then switch or apply at spirit or jet blue? The reason I ask is because I'd rather do that then spend 9 plus years at envoy to then have to start again at AA.... thanks

Why are you even looking at Envoy for the flow? If you have truly been stalking the forums, you know the lack of value it really has, especially if you have just graduated college. If you just graduated HS, then go to college, consider your options, aviation and otherwise. If you are interested in Spirit or JetBlu, there are other, better steppingstones.

Most regionals no longer have a training contract, but if they offer bonuses then there is period that if you leave within you must repay the bonus. Usually about two years and often prorated after a point as well.

All that being said, if you have truly been reading these forums this is information that is out there, but this is your first post, with a very troll-worthy subject.

The better question is why are you looking at Envoy for any reason other than flow? There’s no reason to come to Envoy if you’re not interested in flow. Almost every other carrier has a better deal for new hires unless you desire (or really REQUIRE) flow.

Sorry I may not have worded myself correctly, so pretty much the reason was because I was considering ATP as a flight school correct? So you already know about the whole flow through program and all that.... what my plan was is to use envoy as a job just to fly and gain FLIGHT HOURS not really interested in the flow aspect. Like i said I'm new to all this and maybe dont know the whole deal but I am aware of envoy kind of lying when they say flow is 5.5..... its because of the these forums that I know its Bs. But anyways I was just wondering if there were any repurcutions as to leaving the flow program early like when per say when I had the 3000 minimum for spirit. The reason for choosing envoy as well is for there base in MIA where I live and spirit is only 30 minutes north at FLL... that's all

Again, there are no requirements or repercussions to leaving other than repayment of any bonus if you are still within that window. You will be long past any bonus pay back by the time you get 3000 hours.

Now if there is a CADET program, that is a different situation. Are you talking about a cadet program to Envoy? There are whole threads in that subject as well.

If you want MIA, consider Republic. MIA is small and relatively senior for Envoy anyway.

Zero repercussions for leaving an AA Wholly Owned regional to go to a LCC, Legacy, Cargo etc. once you’re NH bonus payback window (24 months) has expired. If you’re inside the window you merely payback the prorated amount of the bonus money.
