PERFECTO ! Lol it's kinda sweet in a way cause you'll kinda get some reimbursement for training if you complete the required time. It's such a shame AA isnt doing enough to keep worthy pilots after pretty much putting them in shape to fly

Now if there is a CADET program, that is a different situation. Are you talking about a cadet program to Envoy? There are whole threads in that subject as well.

If you want MIA, consider Republic. MIA is small and relatively senior for Envoy anyway.
Thanks for your answer it answered mine and as far as is it a CADET program? I dont believe so...
This is the link anyways, not sure if you can clarify that for me

Any financial assistance you receive as a cadet will have a financial commitment period that parallels that of your new hire signing bonus.

Any loans that you take to foster the completion of your ratings rest squarely on you and will only be expected to be paid back by you, regardless of where you are employed.

VERY clearly states it is a cadet program with Envoy. That is a financial hook.

ATP offers other programs with most other regionals, including Republic. You can get MIA, a 175 Shiny New Jet and much better pay.

But the industry will change before you get to that point. Don’t get tied to any of them this early in your training.

I would get off the forums and talk directly to the flight school. Several of them, and have them show you IN WRITING, what guarantees and commitments there are for different airlines.

MEGA

I can’t comment on Spirit but after about 1 more year, JetBlue is paying the same A320 rates as AA. JetBlue pays new hires $88/hr year one and Captains will top out on the 320 in 1.5 years at $275/hr...currently AA pays $278/hr for 320 captains and $90/hr for newhires. So why turn down a job that is gonna pay you today what AA might start paying you 8 years from now if you get the chance to flow?

I’d say keep pursuing AA if you are hoping to be lucky enough to get in before they finish hiring all their next generation of wide body captains (maybe 3,000 spots out of 15,000???)
But the truth of the matter is the majority of AA pilots fly around in 737’s and A320’s and so will future flow throughs.

Both AA and JB paid out a very disappointing 2% in profit sharing last year and both have 16% direct contributions to your 401K. So again, by all means, keep the dream of flying widebodies alive if that’s really important to you and keep applying to AA for a few years if you get a shot to go to JetBlue. But if you look at the hiring numbers and realize you will spend most of your left seat time in a 737 or 320 at AA why stay at Envoy for 8 years making $70-80/hr when you could have been at JetBlue making $160-180/hour for 5 of those 8 years plus getting 16% of that into your 401K?

Not knocking AA/Envoy or the flow or anyone who has decided to wait it out for the flow. This is just a JetBlue pilot’s 2 cents on leaving the regionals ASAP for a decent carrier with a solid contract.

No doubt JetBlue is a solid choice, but you make a strong assumption that everyone wants to be a WB CA. Being a senior WB FO is one of the best deals in the industry if you can't make it to senior WB CA.
If you don't want to do WB flying, AA has nothing special to offer right now that's worth the wait.

I agree with that 100%. Most WB FO’s make pretty close to what NB captains make if not more if they are really senior and way less legs per month. The only thing I will say is those WB FO slots will be filled quickly too if AA keeps hiring 1000 a year.

I have no clue but maybe some one with access to the seniority list could chime in with how many WB positions (both CA and FO) are available at AA in its current state. My WAG is 5,000 out 15,000? I really don’t know. That may be too generous even.

The reason I ask is because I'd rather do that then spend 9 plus years at envoy to then have to start again at AA.... thanks
You could, it would be dumb if your goal is a LCC. Get in, get trained, upgrade, and get 1000 PIC (curren minimum magic number) before you jump anywhere else. Going from FO to FO won’t get you to a major. If you’re happy at JB/Spirit/Frontier then there’s nothing wrong with that plan.

Pretty sure Spirit and the like have become way more competitive than just needing 1000 hours as your TPIC. I know you said minimum, perhaps on paper, but in reality I imagine it to be higher.
