The latest one going around the guy has earbuds under his headsets in flight. Embarrassing.

Thank management and their idiot parents

FullThrust 03-12-2020 02:53 PM

Let’s not forget the check airman in Miami who is always parading around with his earbuds in 24/7. If he’s the guy doing your new hire IOE, that is going to be your first impression and you assume that behavior is normal.

Yes we look very professional in our tent sized shirts and pants. Don’t wanna ruin that.

This. Or even forget that... who wants public evidence when the company drags you in to fire you instead of furlough you?

Just wondering how long do you guys think this will affect the flow?

I have people asking me if they should come back from mil leave?

How long is a piece of string? Could be 3 month speed bump or 18 month apocalypse.

Everyone’s best guess going around the rumor mill, is 6 months. But who really knows.

Thanks brotha! That’s what I am thinking too. But you have a point. We really don’t know. AA just announced more cuts btw.

Just to put my post in context, I left Envoy mid last year. Full disclosure.

Obviously it’s all guess work, but I think it also matters who we’re talking about. If AA stops hiring for 6 months, that’s a 6 month delay for the guys who would have gone in April. I doubt they’ll jump in and start hiring 100 a month every month right away, so for an ENY new hire it could be more than a 6 month delay due to a slower flow long term.

Demand may rebound as fast as it dropped off, but I doubt it.

Yep, super happy where I’m at. Flying one of those unicorn pt91 gigs, helicopter and Gulfstream G500.

I’m not anti Envoy by the way. I lived in base and flew my butt of and upgraded and punched out as much PIC time I could and moved on.

This is also a great point. For someone who is supposed to flow end of 2021 I don’t think it’s going to happen unless things rebound fast. My guess is going to be 6 months to a year delay for someone in that position.

What are the odds the flow survives the bankruptcy?

lol

happy to see the “professionalism” weirdos are still obsessing over guys wearing AirPods. Yeah it looks juvenile but it’s the companies problem. They hired kids who would work for free to get Instagram photos in their shiny jets.

I don't work at Envoy. I was just looking at your forum to see if there was any talk of furloughs yet. But this is the funniest darned thing I've read in a long time. I spit out my coffee. Well played!

we definitely need more qualities like this in mainline cockpits. Selfie ability, social media pics, dancing......you’re hired!

Yeah, he was claiming to have inside info that AA wasn’t stopping hiring and that the flow would continue. Probably won’t see him for awhile...

I think a lot of you are in for a rude awakening. We've got junior guys at AA gearing up for furloughs. Guys aren't worrying about when hiring may restart, they're worrying about how much longer they'll have a job. Not only has this virus directly affected air travel, but it's tanked the economy which also affects how many people will get out and fly places. Airlines aren't hiding the fact that this even is shaping up to be worse than 9/11. And even though circumstances are different than 9/11, just to put things in reference, AA furloughed in 2002 and resumed street hiring in 2014.

Was AA retiring 10k pilots during that decade?

Can’t have an airline if people still can’t afford to take vacations because they’ve been laid off. If you think this is isolated to the travel industry, think again.

They would have if the retirement age change hadn’t pushed it back 5 years.

FullThrust 03-14-2020 07:10 PM

Many corporations have non-essential travel bans in place for AT LEAST the next 2ish months. And that’s just because of the virus. Then travel will be greatly restricted because business costs will be at the forefront of all corporations as everyone tries to claw back their business. People won’t be flying for quite a while. Buckle up- hope you didn’t spend your new hire bonus check yet.

No. And they weren't seeing the kind of cuts that are currently on the table either. But by all means, keep hanging out for your flow. I'm sure it's gonna be all fine.

Just opinion like everything else on here...The reference to the economic downturn post 9/11 on our envoy thread is ironically comical since 70% of our pilot group was 3 yrs old during that period. Not a diss on the younger folks. I just don’t think they have a real frame of reference. And as for the continued cuts at AA, unless they’re gonna start sending the bus to Joplin, the April bid packet didn’t look that bad honestly. Subject to change of course. Always go into any for profit aviation gig thinking you could possibly get stuck there due to unforeseen circumstances and give yourself outs. The rest will sort itself out in time. Stay frosty. #GWOTTrapLordz

I think it's safe to say for the time being that AA will probably do some sort of furlough as their international routes are hit far harder than Envoys. Now if we have domestic travel bans, things change across the board. Trump mentioned it was in the realm of possibility, but we're not there yet.

I don’t care about flow-through, I’m actively chasing the next rung up from the regionals. It’s more about having a job to provide for my family and the ability to build the necessary flight experience to leave for the next gig. Flow is for suckers.

You mean like negotiating to increase QOL as opposed to opening the flow tap for a select few? Letting the pilot group vote on changes to their contract would have been a good start.

oh the irony. You realize some of these guys who voted for that horrible agreement might be furloughed as opposed to sitting at the top back at their regional with better QOL altogether for them and the rest of the pilot group. They wanted the flow increase at all cost they got it.
