The part where they go, “I don’t know... I’ve got a bad feeling about this.”

PSA was, as I understand, short staffed. The ‘Voy had a full pipeline of bright eyed cadets drooling over themselves to fly the SNJ and was staffed and hiring to cover the turn over.

We were short staffed prior to getting rid of the 200s. Now with 2000 pilots and only 125 A/C we are over staffed. Or so most of us thought. No one here has any idea why they are announcing hiring. We all have guesses but that’s all they are.

Only thing I could think of was the amount of PSA guys who got other jobs and didn’t come back from the recall. But you guys probably had 200+ CJO’s out there and from what I’m hearing is if they meet ATP mins right now they’re all getting a class.

What ever is going on we lowly pilots don’t have a clue. Heck I fully expected to get WARN notices the end of this month again. Never imagined hearing rumors of guys who weren’t on property when this all started getting a call.

We aren’t even training those who are back from furlough. They are literally getting paid to stay away and have zero obligation. Can’t wait to see what that company wants us to give up this time for a group of people who aren’t even current and qualified to fly. I’m sure they’ll go for something big and make an excuse as to why they need concessions during this “small blip in human history.”

When is the estimated date for them to get back to the schoolhouse?

Well soon I hope, seeing how they just found all this flying for PSA supposedly.

The whipsaw has started. Brace for it.

NoValueAviator 01-17-2021 06:30 AM

I might be alone in this but maybe they should just re-furlough the pilots they aren't planning on using. Why post higher costs than necessary? To qualify for additional subsidy? This is a terrific situation for those pilots and I'm happy for them, but it doesn't seem like the right time to be paying people training gaurantee to do nothing. This exaggerates our costs and makes other ops more appealing from AAG's standpoint.

It’s cheaper for AAG to accept the payroll support and pay people to do nothing, than it is to pay people who aren’t furloughed from your actual revenue. I’m still miffed about how PSA hiring.

The government is giving them 70% (I think) of overall payroll in exchange for paying 200~ FO’s. They’d been insane not to take that.

Also, I don’t envy those furloughees at all. It’s far from a sweet deal. Yes they are paid right now for nothing, but that is only guaranteed for a couple of months. I’m sure quite a few of them have gone back to their CFI/corporate/military jobs they had previously. That’s probably a one time lifeline for most. You can’t just quit and come crawling back every 3 months.
If you are 23 and still have your mom doing your laundry, it may not be that big of a deal, but that is definitely NOT everybody.

But are they actually required to show up and do anything that would require them to leave their fallback job? Seems like a pretty good deal unless I’m missing something.

as of now, no. They sit at home and collect the paycheck. I personally know 6 that will never comeback, so there has to be a lot more than that too. So when things actually do start improving we will have to hire too. Also according to the new seniority list, we’ve lost about 65 pilots anyway.

I wonder if the announcement of Republic shutting Miami will have an impact on recalls.

That being said, since I was the one that brought it up, the ‘Voy isn’t getting anymore SNJs. The last new ones were sold to Republic.

Looks like the LCC's are ramping up hiring, wonder if we'll see any movement as a result of this?

To quote the PDT CEO in 2019, “every pilot should be applying outside the Flow.”

WTF is going on with the F/A’s and their hostility towards the pilot group? I have enough to worry about, I don’t have time to be concerned that their union wants them to try to get pictures of us without masks. This is insane.

People need to get the habit of denying any wrongdoing if reported for not wearing a mask. Eventually the company will get tired of their sh!t. Especially if the FAs keep writing bogus reports with an absence of evidence.

Fire their azzes. Violation of company policy and faa on pictures being taken of crewmembers. Take anyones picture without their expressed permission is a violation of one's rights, sue the f u c k s.

Also they better get their vaccinations or I consider them a health hazard for the flight.

Or you could take the easy way out and just wear the mask.

The bigger issue is the fact that they are coming on the flight deck and sneaking pictures of pilots, then filing reports over it. Easiest solution is to tell them you’re keeping the door closed and that they can call you if they need you. I’m not about to lose my job because someone in a polyester Lands End uniform thinks that they have authortah.

Tell them they are not to enter the cockpit period.
the captain owns the airplane and they are under the captains command as per the far's and the fom.
