Yeah I would have to agree with this. The trend over the last couple of years is to move us into nicer hotels, but we lose a lot of the benefits that really matter, like the ones above.

Personally I could care less about location. I want a good gym in the hotel, microwave, fridge in my room and a van that is on time. I however totally understand that I am just one person and my tastes and views don’t align with everyones. Some people would rather have a 30 min van ride to a better location.

Overall though I feel like the general quality of our hotels has improved.

I guess what bugs me about this particular hotel/overnight is that we used to stay at a hotel across the street (so essentially the same location). It wasnt quite as “nice” but certainly well beyond nice enough and we got a two room suite with an in room microwave/fridge, a very good free breakfast, free drinks in the evening, and I was never asked to leave the hotel 40 min earlier than necessary (before 6am no less) because the van was busy. But boy do people love this nice hotel.

Agreed. Give me a room with a microwave, a fridge w/freezer, and a decent gym and I will be much happier than being in a classier hotel where I have to go down to the lobby to microwave my spaghetti O’s.

Okay all that is nice but location still does matter eapecialy for those of us that dont pack food for each trip or cant due to the hassle of commuting. LAW for example is a particularly terrible overnight for me since theres pretty much nothing around the hotel. I want hotels that are near some food options or maybe even a grocery store. Some of my favorites are CUU, TYR, and GRK and theres something for everyone. I hate the typical hotel by the highway with a gas station and nothing else we tend to stay at.

I mean, not packing food due to commuting is a choice you make. I know a ton of commuters, myself included, that pack food. Sure, it is one extra step and sure, it can be a small nuisance sometimes, but the commuting argument isnt really valid considering how many people commute while brining food.

I due agree though that we are all different and we all have different priorities, so I am not judging even if it sounds that way.

Thats absurd, you’re telling me you’d rather stay in a fleabag LaQuinta. Rather than ride the elevator down to the lobby at a nice hotel, with a good location lobby to heat up spaghetti Os?

At least the elevators a nice ride! (Sarcasm)

Im sure we can all agree hotels need to have an in room fridge and microwave. Whatever i do pack or even leftovers still need it

I heard walmart has good deals on microwaves maybe we could direct these hotels on where to find some

I agree that microwave and mini fridge is a minimum. I would never choose a place for myself that doesn’t have at least a fridge, especially if breakfast with some kind of decent protein wasn’t provided. Cost aside, eating out 16ish days a month would kill my figure. I wouldn’t be able to moonlight as dancer and flying just doesn’t pay the bills!
