That’s simply not true, at least in DFW. Anytime I’ve needed a PO for sick kids or any other home issue they’ve been more than accommodating.
I could see where this might be an issue in other bases though.

Thanks for posting this. It's nice to see someone speak the truth here and what you've just stated is absolutely what happens. You'd never know it reading some of the posts here however.

You've been lucky, or your experience is from year+ ago. Lately they have been denying most PE/PO requests. I'd say easy 75% just gets a blanket denial. Sick kid? Use FMLA. Home issue that does not qualify for BR? Tough cookie. Uncles and aunts aren't real family.

You are absolutely right that the DFW CP does what she can. But when they already projected to be zeroed out they are unlikely to give a PO. The problem is the CONTRACT. You should be able to take a sick day to take care of a kid or spouse or a non emergency medical issue that you have to schedule a month away and not be forced to take FMLA when you have sick time available.

Just had a PO a month or two ago plus a few more in the past 12 months. Not sure why you’re trying to paint the DFW CPO in a bad light when the overwhelming majority of DFW guys are thankful for AE and SL.

He doesn't work here and just has an ax to grind. Like a lot of the hot air on this site. Glad your experience is good. I see the reports and the guys here saying it's not happening are just flat out not telling the whole story.

Dera doesn’t need anyone to defend him or his time at the Voy. Also don’t think he is bitter or has an axe to grind. He was hired at a time when he got the base he wanted and saw a lot of relative seat progression, but he also saw a lot more of the big picture as time went on. He wasn’t disillusioned. He got his time and moved on to bigger and better things. Pretty sure he has no plans to alter his course, but if he chooses to try to get to AA, I’m sure he will get there from the outside long before the flow would get him there.

He has no axe to grind. He left on his own terms and was hired on the right side of hiring wave at his new spot. I just disagree with his perspective of the CPO.
ENY isn’t perfect but it’s also not a hell hole. One’s experience will vary depending on a number of factors. If I had to make my decision all over again, I’d go with Envoy still. However, I live in base and never experienced any stagnation until March 2020. By then I was in the seat of my choice with no danger of being displaced. I know people who have had a much worse experience too. Envoy is good for some, terrible for others. Make the decision that is best for you.
