Just curious. Is envoy actually hiring pilots right now? I see they're advertising for pilots, but if they're overstaffed have they actually been hiring any? If so, how many are they getting?

Yes, we're hiring pilots. The only reason we are supposedly "overstaffed" is because the company took away a bunch of our planes and flying and gave them to PSA, Piedmont, ExpressJet, Compass, and TransStates. They have also given a lot of our flying away to SkyWest, Republic, ASA, and Mesa. We're "overstaffed" because they took away an extremely large amount of our flying, and we currently have a few "excess" pilots.

According to the union we have hired 40 new pilots in 2016 so far.

Which PSA, RAH and TSA are having trouble staffing. Also, I don't know how PDT will be able to grow.

Supposedly TSA and XJet 145 are coming back to Envoy.

I would think anyone with any sense would place Envoy several rungs higher on the ladder when just looking at the two carriers above alone not even considering pay.

How is that possible you ask? Take a look at an Envoy pilot's career vs. a Republic pilot's career from Day one of Indoc. The overall compensation curve is slightly lower on the front end of the Envoy pilot up until close to the 6 year mark when said pilot flows to American Airlines. Then, the curve skyrockets in favor of the Envoy/AA pilot.
I'm truly confused by your statements. How does the "flow" cost the company money? As it was explained by top executives of the parent company, they like the flow because they see it as a "regional" recruitment tool; their goal is to attract new "regional" pilots with the "flow" and thereby avoid increasing "regional" pay.

Please clarify if I misunderstand the concept. You claim our "cost" is higher as we wait for the alleged 6 year flow. Maybe you're unaware, but our FO pay is now lower than almost anyone except Mesa. We are now second-worst because the rest of the industry has recently seen substantial gains, while we ratified 2 concessionary contracts in the past 3 years.

Life is too short to maintain a bad attitude about work. But I'm sure you can understand how folks have become slightly wary, skeptical, and cynical after years and years of stagnation, lies, broken promises, and bad news.

We would gladly welcome a positive future for our company. But it's up to the company to make that happen.

Rumors are fun, and they are free. I would love us to get our own planes and flying back, but I'll believe it if/when it actually happens.

I know we as pilots often times think we know best but you have to realize that when you aren't privy to all of the information, there are things you can't see. The 30,000 foot view is constantly shifting as management deals with day to day operations. Thus you will at times see a reversal on something that was deemed appropriate months ago.

What you are seeing now is a continuation of that strategy. The bonuses that are being offered are unprecedented and just another solid reason why a new hire should choose Envoy. At times, attrition has been higher than management would like so this program should keep that in check. Yes, I understand that great opportunities arise from time to time, but it's mind blowing to see a super qualified Envoy pilot leave for a LCC when an AA job is just a few short years away.
All due respect, that is complete BS. Management made a money grab, pure and simple. They threatened, multiple times, the careers of everyone in the entire airline (unless they were lying, which is arguably worse). And over what? Savings of 0.1% of one quarter of your profits, over a ten year pilot contract. And they did this one year after the pilots signed an 8 year concessionary contract. You say at times that a reversal is necessary. What about a reversal that every single pilot saw years away? Maybe your 30,000 foot view blinded you to obvious details. 0.1% of one quarter of profit. We'll never forget what you did to us. Now we'll carry that memory through our long AA careers. So much for employee/employer relations.

If cancellations ever occur with regularity due to staffing at envoy in the near future, I think it will be important to let shareholders know about your "reversal," i.e. your incomprehensible lack of foresight.

And now the massive retirements of the industry are forcing management's hand, and you guys want to take credit for it. Go troll somewhere else.

Last time I checked I got hired by American Eagle and that's what is written on the sides of those airplanes. So yes, it was our flying.

Look for an announcement of ExpressJet flying coming back to us very soon. It was supposed to have been announced last week but not sure what the hold up was...
