This!! Glad to see fellow pilots recognizing QOL and good money go farther then the size of airplanes. I currently fly a TBM 700 and Cessna 340 corporate. I make damn good money, stay at company-paid 5 star hotels, rental car/gas/meals paid for as well. Average 25 days off a month with only 2-3 overnights a month. Wife and kids happy. Do I want to fly for FEDEX or the majors? You bet! But man this easy life is hard to beat.

Until "they" decide to sell your airplane.

I read on Aero Crew News pilots must pay for half the uniform cost and all the cost of the leather jackets. Is this accurate?

When are they ordered, from what company and how are they paid for?

What does is the cost for the basic uniform requirements and the jacket?

Ours, for the old uniform, was about $125 billed to the pilot, paid to back to the company $25 per paycheck for 5 paychecks. I don't know the amount for the new uniform. Guessing that it wouldn't have gone up substantially as I never heard any recent hires complain about the cost of the new one. That said, most guys on the line haven't had to order their re-up supplies yet (and 98% of current pilots would have gotten the whole initial issue as a no-cost replacement as they already had old ones in hand), so there's not much data out there as of yet to base my cost-complaint theory off of.

Per your question, the company is Twin Hill, part of the Men's Wearhouse mass of companies.

Company doesn't pay for leather jacket, you're correct.

Doesn't sound too painful.

Any requirements for shoes? Just basic black?

How much is the leather? Is it required?

Thanks

I looked yesterday. Jacket is between $416-450ish. Says it takes 8 weeks. Depending on when you start training and order the jacket you might not even need it until next fall/winter.

Leather jacket is optional

Wow! That is pretty steep. Maybe when I make Captain... at a main line.

Are there any less expensive options for actually staying warm and dry that might use hide of polyesters?

Pay attention to this post, potential new hires. Those of us that actually work at envoy and dare bring up real problems that employees are having are called "mud slingers" and "axe grinders." There's never any attempt to actually address the issues we bring up, the company salesmen simply ignore or attempt to minimize us. Be prepared to be treated this way on the line.

Bottom line is, Envoy is where you want to be if you want a long career at the largest, most stable major airline in the world. When looking at the history of regional carriers, Envoy quite possibly could be the best as it stands at present.
No, envoy was far, far better off when we were American Eagle and did 95% of the regional lift for AMR. Envoy is the antithesis of "stable" right now. Bases have closed and re-opened, the fleet plan is constantly changing, there is no longer any consistency in our schedules.
