Both Air France and Japan Air will be retiring 170s in the coming months/years; I suspect these 15 are from one of them.
As for NY, keep dreaming. The slots were never Envoy’s and have always belonged to AA.

I do believe at least some of these will be coming from Hop Air France.

I’ll give you that it was only a partial troll. But those 15 planes are not a “new aircraft order” as 170s aren’t still being built. Give the number, as someone else said, likely Hop Air, as they are listed as having exactly 15.

It just goes to show how little notice managers are given of these announcements.
Pretty sure RW would have waited a few days for his “Airline Update” email if he would have known Thursday that this information would be announced as it kind of makes it look like he doesn’t know what’s going on.

I guess this will take out a good chunk of 145s from Envoy.

During that time frame the 145 lines are projected to go from 138 in September to 59 in December. Most of that is the Dallas reduction but some of it is in ORD which is likely just seasonal fluctuations. DFW will be down to a handful of 145 lines in December, although the official “closing” of the 145 base hasn’t been announced. There will probably be more indications of what’s going on by the end of September bid.

I still maintain there is not a replacement for the 145. I don’t see Envoy getting as many 170s as they had 145s. There were a limited number of 170s made. Those 170s that become available may come CLOSE to replacing all the 145s Envoy has (had), but that won’t leave anything to replace Piedmont’s 145s with and then there are quite a few still being flown in the United system. Bottom line, there is no scope compliant replacement for 145s that is being manufactured.
