Also possibly some guys with outdated experience that met the legal mins. Perhaps some knew it was a good idea to get some winter experience before they are a captain with a 1500 hr bannertowing newhire. Just sayin

I did have my preferences set for it, also thinking it wouldn't matter and was really just setting it for the future but I was passed over due to not having 1000 hours 121 time. My preferences are staying where they were and hopely will get to upgrade on the first vacancy run after I meet that requirement.
A guy junior to me from my class was awarded Captain. Had his preferences set, like me in thinking it was set and ready for the future but didn't matter now. But he got it.
I bet there's a decent amount of guys like me and even a few guys like my senior classmate in the ranks. The junior guy that got captain will probably be on reserve quite a while as people more senior to him get captain upgrades on future vacancy bids. Lol

Not all information is given to you. Gotta reach out sometimes. When I heard the most jr CA award was a 3 month hire I was shocked. So I probed for more info. This should be an eye opener to management, and maybe they'll fix why 100+ guys are willing to bypass. But I highly doubt it.
