Did they get rid of the 135 PIC substitution for the 121 SIC time? I thought it was 1000 hrs of either.

Qualified Upgrade is not AQP, it's still the old 121 program.

If you upgrade into the 145 from different equipment, you'll be doing the long term program. I think that's AQP, but I'm not sure.

CA year 2: $70 x 75 hr rsv guarantee = $63,000

Pay being pretty close, sacrifice 2 days off of a 15 day off line and maybe a turn at the end of a trip as OT.

In the end, the FO is making about the same with a much better QOL. Based on a Sr Line Holding FO and a RSV CA with 11 days off and everything that comes with a jr RSV.

Im not advocating either way, but just running some numbers.

It will take him a while to become a senior FO. And he will be a senior FO for a few months before he upgraded. Also he may not be the bottom boy for the entire time as other 1000 121 guys come in below him.

You forget to add in the OT for the CA. Also, a stint in the training department, recruitment, or CP office is always an option for a few. CA reserve has improved.

There are benefits to both side of this coin and each person has a choice in what they do based off their own needs.

Right. You'd be crazy not to take the first upgrade slot at a regional(as long as you are comfortable and its the base you want). No matter what they say about the $ or days off, it's just plain better to be a CA than an FO. Even your significant other will enjoy the extra money in exchange for the few less days off you have initially.

No it's still there. It refers to a very specific paragraph in far 135 though so I'd look it up to make sure it applies to you. I've got some prior 135 pic experience (in a Caravan) but mine doesn't apply.

It's in the FAR I think it's in 117 something like twin turbine more than 9 seats but there might be some more restrictions. There is also some language about 91k
