PBS has worked really well at TSA. I voted it down actually originally. But everyone gets like 15/16 days off even if you're somewhat junior. The only issue is that there's less opentime and somewhat less control of your schedule like transitions but overall the schedules are better than before with more days off.

PBS gives you away to sort out what you like. Want weekends off and overnights and turns to your home-town airport so you can sleep in your own bed? It permits you to manage your schedule on a micro level and bid monthly, automatically. Many other benefits as well.
I keep hearing about garbage schedules and don't see it. I'm off for 7 days straight now and my May schedule has 14 days off with 80 hours with the option of picking up a lot of OT at 200%. I'm off half the month!

Go talk to the 35% of the pilot group on RSV. Then go talk to the JR line holders.

Yes, we had sucky pairings before too and somehow even the guys with min days off started seeing 13/14. Trust me I was very skeptical but it's a better system and being able to micro manage your bid is great, just get as much out of the negotiations as you can. The company needs it because it makes it easier working the flying with less pilots, cut the fat basically. There's like no opentime.

My Envoy Air website
Departments... Flight... Flight Training... Recurrent Fleet Training...
The Bidding Overview page has a list of instructions. The link below that, Training Schedule, has a list of dates available for your month.
Make sure you know if you're doing R12 or R24. If you're not sure, HI*E will pull up your Quals page in DECS and you can see what you did last year. If this is your first AQP recurrent, they can start you on 12 or 24, so you'll have to call training to find out what you're bidding for. PM me if you need the training department phone number.
Hope this helps.

PBS works good when pairings are strong, and rules are good. The last vendor we had was really bad, and we have no rules currently. If they do negotiate a new PBS, we need the above(rules, better pairings, new vendor) otherwise the schedules will be exactly the same as hardlines.
PBS takes money because of transition and vacation. Also, if you don't have min days for vacation months, then you still can end up with normal days off, and guys jr to you having more days off then you, even though you used vacation.
As said by many, there is almost 0 ot with PBS.
I used PBS for 6 years.

Can you post data to support your comment? It may be true on the CRJ/145 side. The reserve list on the 175 is about 30 FO's. There are (175) E75 FO's and growing. That's 17%, not 35% and a good portion of FO's on reserve are senior and could hold a line but prefer to be on reserve. I think all of my Nov 2016 e75 class was awarded a line for May so hardly a 1%'er situation going on....more like biz as usual.

So you're a new guy enjoying the advantage of FOs not being able to bid the 175. Enjoy the growing fleet. I once too enjoyed being on the CRJ and receiving the nextgens.
By 6 months I had 3 day trips. 4 days off. And the lines were about 88/90 hours.
