There's a lot of misinformation regarding the CPO coming after everyone for sick calls. The guys that are getting brought into the office for sick calls either have a ton of them, or have a combination of issues. The whole automatic step 1 letter for the 3rd or 4th sick call rumor is false. Yes you might get a letter after your 4th sick call, but there are gonna be other factors in play as well. I can tell you from personal experience and hearing from other guys that you can have 4 sick calls in 12 months and not hear a peep from the CPO.

Even with valid doctors excuses? How is that right? I don't know, sounds like destructive management to me.
Either way, I really hope AA isn't like this. Seems like they are encouraging bad judgement making on the pilots. When you force someone to fly ill you basically are asking them to commit fraud. Also, I didn't say it was the CPO, I said it was HR going after sick calls.

Now you have sparked my curiosity. Is it?
To be honest, when I was at Mesa many moons ago, I never recalled them caring if you had a doctors excuse. Mind you this was well before 117 was forged.

You pretty much just answered your own question. You go to the bottom of the list, so no you can't hold a line.

Well.... in most cases yes. However there have been recent months where we had more lines than FOs so TDY pilots could get a line in this scenario.

Most likely you'll be on reserve. Unless as said above there are more lines than FOs but I wouldn't count on it. Really though, if you're a commuter, commuting to reserve with the TDY benefits is a nobrainer compared to commuting to reserve without the TDY benefits.
