Hey, all. Similar situation, same question. I have a mid-June start date. I have a house about an hour and a half from O'Hare, so I definitely want ORD. I'm 43, so if Chicago is available I should have a good shot at it. Question is CRJ or 145? And why?

CRJs are going away, 145s are not.

...choose the 145 if able. if for some reason you were awarded dfw or lga, you will be able to transfer to ord if you're on the 145 - if your seniority can hold it.

if you choose the crj, you will be based in ord but will be displaced out of it as the crjs are being transferred to a different carrier. that means you will go
through another long term training.

175 will only get you dfw for now!

good luck

Thanks for the responses. I've heard negatives about both, but was leaning 145. Guess it depends on what's available that week.

If you want ORD, the 145 is really the only smart choice. In addition you will be able to move about all the bases. The CRJ lines are tough and only getting tougher due to their phase out.

Or, you could gamble that the 175 will eventually get to ORD and go that route. With your age you would most likely get it.

When will CRJs be gone?
Replaced by 175s?
If so, will they have 175s at ORD?

If the current schedule holds (one per month this year, two per month next year), first quarter of 2019.
Don't know.
Don't know, though Ric Wilson is on record saying it is a possibility in 2018.

This is all the same I heard. The 175 is anybodies guess and I think a lot will have to do with how many options of the 90 additional aircraft we pick up. Already picked up 4 more so we shall see.

I still hold true to the 145 if you want ORD though, it's the safest bet.

If it's all about ORD.... why would someone not pick CRJ which is only in ORD. When they go away they can displace wherever like say ORD.

Have you ever been at the bottom of the list on a fleet that is scheduled to shrink and eventually disappear? It's not a particularly enjoyable experience.
