Pilots are leaving in droves to go elsewhere, I heard that 150 are out to Kalitta alone.

Too many lies.
Agreed. Quite a few on here still seem to believe the empty promise of 175s too.

I’ve seen the xjt training center handle close to 1200 new pilots a year PLUS FAs, dispatchers, schedulers, MX, rampers, cleaners and even small chartered stuff.

Perhaps it’s a calculated game of chicken just like AA did with envoy? Obviously junior equals cheaper.
This is not 2007 or 2012 anymore. There is not 1200 pilots to be had. I would love to see mngt play that game right now. That would be a lot of money thrown out to new hires just to get their apps.

We have hired over 550 pilots at Republic through the first 9 months of the year. And they only recently took off the cap on new hires and are targeting 100/mo which they have actually been getting close to.

Whipsaw is alive and well. There ARE 1200 pilots to be had, they just all work for other regionals at the moment.

Yep. Anybody remember the cold call that all our FOs got from the CEO (or whoever) at Envoy when their first bonus was announced?

Funny how someone that went to a different regional doesn’t think the script can ever be reversed.

The question is, how many will come. Each time a regional goes to that well the supply grows less and less. Some may move up, some may get frustrated with the whipshaw and move on to other endeavors. I mean how many regionals can a pilot's moral sustain before they say screw it?
Second, it will take quite a bit of time for prospective FO's to trust ExpressJet, especially if the announcement of the -175's will be in January now. Pinkey promise on that one, right? Or just as bad, if SkyWest still owns ExpressJet.
But this is all idle talk. At this point maybe UAL will actually award the -175's to someone else (such as SkyWest) but is putting off the announcement so they don't prematurely upset the XJT ERJ flying.

Xjt total pilot count update
6/1 - 1865
7/1 - 1824
8/1 - 1769
9/1 - 1687
10/1 - 1642
11/1 - 1597

300+ of those are on leave.

Further analysis.
# of CA's - 899
# of FO's - 698

Of those remaining
Average longevity of CA's - 17.5 years
Average longevity of FO's - 7.3 years
Median longevity of CA's - 17.9 years
Median longevity of FO's - 5.3 years
Definitely good skewness on the FO side.

How will the bidding be awarded for the 175’s when they publish the bid? Will a new hire even have a chance?
