"In connection with the deal, Mesa’s 20 Bombardier CRJ-700 aircraft will be leased to another United Express carrier for a term of seven years." (AKA converted to 550s)

Why would United extend Mesa’s contract and give them 20 new 175’s and XJET is going to the sand to pull out 20 year old airframes?
I dunno. In the Mesa earnings call JO said UA is the most likely to experience scope relief.

I think its very possible to get scope relief on more large RJs as long as United is willing to cap the small RJ numbers and add more mainline flying ratios to large RJs.

I personally would rather regionals go back to only flying ATRs and move all jet flying to mainline but I think my lotto chances are higher than that scenario.

To be clear, United ordered 20 E175s, with options for another 19. So not 39 firm orders plus 19.

Very easily: get it from another regional airline.

That’s the way it’s been done in this industry for decades.

No new hires assigned EWR or CLE since September 23.

Looks like the plan to shrink these bases may be to let attrition work and no new bodies.

Good if you want IAH or ORD. Bad if you're the plug at EWR in either seat.

Yeah, but 10/14 is the last class to get assignments. Plenty of open time in all bases on the 145. I’d be surprised if some of the next classes don’t get EWR. Probably alternating between classes at this point. Of course all this is speculation, as know one knows what will actually happen.
