Meanwhile, Republic and SkyWest hold on to bases they’ve had since day one and they’re staffing them relatively well. This job doesn’t pay well enough to make a long-term commute affordable, IMO. Additionally, the perpetually low staffing makes schedules tough— even for locals.

Do you commute? I’m sorry but I didn’t plan for or expect a base that was here for 20+ years to downsize or close altogether leading me to fly halfway around the country just to get to work.

I think they think everyone will commmute anywhere, indefinitely.

You are doing it to not do a double commute, and Expressjet doesn't offer Commuter Hotels. It is a safety and financial decision. That should resolve their questions.
