So jumping from one regional to the next “just because”....wouldn’t that look kinda bad on a resume if you’re eventually trying to get on with the legacy carriers or even LCCs?

+1 agreed. I’d be careful about the narrative for lateral moves.

“Just Because”?

I took a job offer from this company primarily for the EWR base and due to the fact it seemed like a great opportunity for career progression with growth, a fast upgrade and the Aviate program.

Thus far they’ve only delivered on the EWR base and that appears to be disappearing soon. Not too happy this drawdown seems to have been in the works for a while either. Wish I would have known.

You are doing it to not do a double commute, and Expressjet doesn't offer Commuter Hotels. It is a safety and financial decision. That should resolve their questions.
Again I get what you are saying. But to an HR person sitting across from you that still won’t hold up. Bases open and close. You sound like you would only be a happy employee if you have a certain base. Its your responsibility to commute in a safe and rested manner. You not wanting to spend a little cash on a hotel is no excuse to jeopardize safety.

There is no winning argument here in that setting. They are preloaded to turn you down if you express any lack of desire to commute or relocate. Those are your two options from their point of view. Obviously changing companies is an option, just one that will get you a TBNT. Again, showing up not rested is not an option and it’s on you to make that happen.
