The senate republican's can't agree on how to spell CARES let alone on any legislation of any kind for relief. Simple extension would buy time to decide - they do not want to extend the 600.00 per week unemployment bonus because it discourages working. Seriously - where are people going to work anyway! It's infused directly into the economy and that's why we have not seem WORSE happening. Take that away and the people won't blame the democrats. The senate is as short sighted as an airline.

If they’re flown by United pilots at United rates, then I’m on board with that. Otherwise, we can go to the unemployment office together.

someone is going to lose their job either the mainline pilot or the RJ pilot. If the Senate forces RJs to fly to do as you propose then the mainline pilots are unemployed......where is the win there?

I'm going to take a shot in the dark and guess you're a democrat...

Actually I’m not a democrat and have never supported that party or it’s ideals. This is a terrific crisis caused not by a virus but by overreaction to the virus. It’s politicized. There’s no arguing that the first stimulus didn’t help. It did. Now I’m suggesting only a simple extension. The crisis didn’t clear in the time expected - so extend the initial stimulus.

The senate is republican controlled. Yet they can’t agree on ANY plan. CARES was agreed to the first time. What changed?

I have family members who are perfectly capable of working, but are making more money sitting at home because of the additional unemployment. That’s why they don’t want it extended, it incentivizes not working.

Back to our topic, I received the WARN/Furlough notice via certified mail yesterday. I’m still wondering if there are any pilots who didn’t receive a letter saying their position would be eliminated on October 1.

He was just fishing, they were giving big bonuses to pilots who recruited new hires.

The "mainline" thing was always just a joke... prop drivers vs. CRJ, then CRJ vs. ERJ. Nobody actually thinks that.

And btw, the point of pro-rate flying is not the fare from SGU to SLC or from PAH to ORD which is indeed set by OO. What makes pro-rate flying viable is the connection fee that OO gets from UA for say PAH - ORD - SFO.

Yes, UA pays a commission for that incremental leg that they sell because of feed. Without that neither OO would do any pro-rate and neither would UA endorse any pro-rate.
This makes zero sense. If the feed is flying into a hub why would United pay SKW a connection fee? The PAX is going to book to their final destination and United could pocket 100% of the fare, there’s no reason to pay someone a commission to get them to the hub. There’s no other way to get there, hence the essential air service.
Somebody didn’t think that through.

the pax books PAH - SFO. That fare is set by UA. That itinerary would not exist without the PAH - ORD leg.

what cut does SKYW get? Spoiler alert: not the fare that SKYW sets for PAH - ORD. But without that leg the PAH - SFO trip would never materialize.

BTW, how do you think it works if you buy SAN - DEN - MUC where DEN - MUC is a code share operates by LH?
