And btw, the point of pro-rate flying is not the fare from SGU to SLC or from PAH to ORD which is indeed set by OO. What makes pro-rate flying viable is the connection fee that OO gets from UA for say PAH - ORD - SFO.

Yes, UA pays a commission for that incremental leg that they sell because of feed. Without that neither OO would do any pro-rate and neither would UA endorse any pro-rate.

Well then, i guess someone better tell that to one of the UAX carriers that is about to start Over a handful of new prorate city’s... that they can’t do that... scope clause...

I am sure Jerry’s son – who runs market development – knows it and will make it scope compliant. Or you can point it out to him – just in case…

Bottom line, they have some of headroom until the 12 month look back starts to capture COVID schedule reductions and it will get progressively worse as the look back includes more months with little mainline flying. This will not fall apart Oct 1 but will get progressively worse for UAX.

As a PSA and easy reference, here is the quick guide to the most relevant UAX scope limitations with contract reference:

All UAX flying is subject to scope - 1-C-1

Hull Count (given the current fleet structure)

Unlimited 37 seat turbo prop operations 1-C-1-a-(2)-(a)

50 seat aircraft up to 90% of single aisle aircraft in the mainline fleet 1-C-1-a-(2)-(b)

255 70/76 seat aircraft of which up to 153 can be 76 seat aircraft 1-C-1-a-(2)-(c)

Block Hour Limits 1-C-1-f-(1)

No limitation to 37 seat turbo prop block hours

Any rolling 12 months UAX block hours cannot exceed 120% of narrow body mainline block hours

Note that there is no differentiation between 50/70/76 seaters. The table shown in 1-C-1-f-(1) just accommodates a schedule in case of UA adding a NEW small narrowbody. That hasn’t happened yet so we are at 153 76 seaters and 120% of block.

your statement was correct in the Brasilia days (no scope for 37 seat turbo prop) but it is t correct any more.

Ah. That was my point of confusion as well, I knew there was no scope when I was doing it back in the day.

This is why nobody likes Skywest. You show up when someone is on their death bed and insult them. Classy. Yes XJT is most likely dead. No need to gloat about it. You can leave now.

By corporate structure it seems we're completely beholden to UAL. The failed gamble taken by the Ream admin all those years ago is what set off the chain of events that led us being the runt that we are now. The troops always did enjoy the salty talk, though. I think he had a lot of people fooled.
No. What set off the chain of events was Continental bidding out the flying and saying that if we didn't take it (the first 25% being put up for CPA) for less than our operating cost then it would go to Chataqua. Apparently you forgot all about that in making Ream your scapegoat.

Im at an ACMI carrier and last Fall this Skywest guy gave me his card and said “we’re hiring.”

Yeah, I want to leave a 6 figure job traveling the globe for a $40k rj job and being brainwashed that SKW is a “mainline” carrier.

Waiting for the next Cares Act to require scope waivers to bring equipment size into line with the real revenue market.
