I don't work for XJT. I just know that airplane was flying in and out of ORD recently.

Not photo shopped. XJT underbid ASA and took over the LAX Delta flying from ASA at less than cost. There is so much history that people don't realize....

There's this stuff called paint. It can be applied as necessary when cpa's expire. The photo wasn't taken yesterday.

Yeah, I get it. I was referring to the comment about current or future flying. Trans States Airlines used to be Trans World Express but you don't see me posting pictures those airplanes claiming that future contracts could be for TWA...especially using a United owned airplane. The XRs are all owned by United, aren't they?

No, they are owned by a leasing company. United just happens to hold the lease.

Oooh. I get it. So it's effectively exactly what I said but semantically different.

Well of course not because TWA doesn't exist anymore. But it is within the realm of possibility for xjt (or anyone else) to fly ERJs for Delta.

Delta had already made the decision to get rid of ASA and their poor performance in LAX. Xjt won the cpa for 10 aircraft and two years (and later another dozen pro-rate aircraft). We were just a place holder. Once delta got itself in order, they bought xjt out of the cpa a year after it started.

As NEVETS said, the first 10 airplanes were on a CPA, but not under cost. It was break even. The additional aircraft were on a pro-rate cost basis.

And as mentioned, the ASA operation was underperforming.

It wasn't a matter of "Delta getting itself in order". It was as you alluded to, the airplanes were simply a placeholder for future DAL expansion. Once the economic downturn and recession started DAL changed those plans and that growth/expansion in LAX didn't happen, AT THAT TIME.
