My understanding is that it's any ABBI school.

Why would they even require the ABBI school? If you have 3-4K hours and have been working in the 121 Arena why would they even care? It's not like trying to get to the R-ATP mins. For R-ATP I can see why the aviation school is important.

You are correct. For current pilots it is any AABI school. I was referring to those of us who did not go to an aviation university. That was my plan B

My big beef with this is the "leadership" position.
Does being a 121 Captain NOT count as a leadership position??

How does being an EPIC Ambassador give leadership skills???

This latest program serves only the company at getting new hires to come to this place. It does nothing for us CA's who have been here for too long.
Thanks B.S. for nothing....

I would say getting new hires in would help senior CAs and FOs. It will help upgrade more FOs which in turn help CAs (especially the ones who have been on reserve for too many years and the ones who used to hold line but now are back on reserve). Plus by the time these new hires get enough time to move on to JetBlue, those more senior pilots should have moved on by then...

So since I didn't go to an AABI school and get an aviation degree I am somehow less of a pilot? It's like I'm being penalized by my own company.

Look at it from the school's perspective. They are losing tons of money due to pilots realizing that they need useful degrees in case this profession doesn't work out for them. Why spend an extra 100k on an AABI when you could go get a business or engineering degree and go to ATP or other fast track program? The pilot factory colleges need some gimmick to stay afloat.

What would really help is not losing planes to Skywest but there is no evidence that is going to stop.
