Why are you leaving? I don't hear many good things about XJT anymore. From what I understand they have a pretty good contract in comparison to the other regionals right now. So why does everyone on here dis them? Yes, they are parking the 145, just like every other regional. They haven't announced any new aircraft but that doesn't mean they are shutting down. If some how they did close the doors what would happen to all of their pilots? Would Skywest pick up all their routes and try to staff them? Would all the pilots just be laid off? Sounds to me more like a scare tactic for the renegotiations. I don't see a company with 4000 pilots disappearing like a lot of people have been saying it is going to. Why doesn't Skywest inc. just merge XJT and Skywest into one company? Like a few others have said on here, to my knowledge it would save the company the most money, with consolidating management. I guess my biggest thing here is, I see a lot of people talk down on XJT but they don't give much reason. So if you are going to say something bad, don't just say you hate it and your leaving soon. Please give detail.

The email last night said "no upgrades". Why in hell would anyone go here with no expatiation of PIC? If your junior, I would quit and go to the first place that could offer me a quick upgrade. Its about PIC guys! You don't have it, your not going anywhere!

Ok, I'm not in the regionals right now and I don't know how it all works exactly, all I can go by is what I read on these forums and from what friends in the regionals have told me. In the last month I have applied and interviewed and given a class date at Skywest, express jet, envoy, Mesa, psa, air Wisconsin, and republic. They all have their advantages and disadvantages. From what I have seen, read and heard I like express jet the most out of all of them so far. Yes I am worried about the upgrade time but that's a risk I'm willing to take. As for PIC time, if I'm going to be given a PIC type rating and if the CA and FO switch roles each leg wouldn't the FO also be able to log PIC then?

Per the FAR, yes. But none of the major airlines count that when applying.

Ok, thanks. I found another thread that pretty much says the same thing. Majors only want to see PIC as the captain because the captain signs off for the aircraft...

You sound like a babbling moron who never had an English class after 4th grade. Maybe you can't go anywhere because you can't put together a coherent resume or cover letter.

You're right to ask why anyone would come here right now as a new hire, but you're wrong about people leaving. PIC time is obviously important, but I know FOs from here that have gone basically everywhere. JB, Spirit, United, Delta... and I also know guys taking a gamble and bailing for places like Mesa. Thousands upon thousands of regional guys are qualified for a very small amount of mainline jobs right now.

FYI, I have been moving up the list nicely in the past few months. I'm on the ASA side. I'm not sure how many 200s we are losing vs 145s, but attrition should increase even more in the next year. Baring any unforeseen factors, you should move up fairly "quickly". That being said, I'd still strongly consider other carriers do to the uncertain future here at XJT for the sake of job security.
