I'm not saying that's unreasonable or unfair. I think it's both reasonable and fair. The question is how do we negotiate that in an environment where Envoy is losing planes to a PSA who entered into predatory bargaining, and endeavor took pay cuts with a gun to their heads. We are currently the industry leaders in compensation. (Yes, Hou757, I said COMPENSATION not "PAY" since you don't seem to understand the difference).
Well that's just the problem. Until ALL regional pilots stand united to demand higher pay and compensation, then we won't have the leverage to do that. Until the ability of the mainline carriers to whipsaw other regional airlines, which there are too many of, is taken away, we don't have the leverage.

This is a flawed comparison.. You are comparing FO's (those at the beginning of this career, and at the lowest end of a pilots pay scale) to ALL teachers, beginning to tenured veterans. A teacher in his/her 15th year makes a lot more than a teacher in the first 1-4 years. (Sound familiar?) Same with police. A rookie in a small town makes $25-30k tops. A 25 year veteran detective pulls down 5-10 times that amount in a big city. We can't compare FO salarys to the entire scale average of other jobs. Most every job on earth starts at lower pay for the first few years than later in your career. Even the NFL has a rookie salary structure.

How can a regional pay that when most majors historically never started that high. (Why don't people complain when hired at USAirways/Continental about starting at roughly $30,000/year?) AirTran, Spirit, JetBlue, etc. don't even start that high.

Incorrect. Keep voting no, and I assure you it will still be gone. As will every other item in your contract.

At least all those people don't have to start over at the bottom of the pay scale if they move. Who and how should we compare our pay to?

I guess people don't complain because there is actually a light at the other end of the tunnel with 2nd year pay.

I would of agreed with your statement back when FOs were hired with 250 TT. However, in today's environment it takes 2-3 years just to obtain the ATP minimums... 2-3 years of entry level position pay and then 2-3 more years at the regionals with compensation of entry level, that's .... If a job requires ATP license, it is no longer entry position job and the compensation should be as such!

I am not even speaking about the costs associated with obtaining all the licenses as compared to becoming a police officer or a teacher.

Our FOs also see the light at the end of the tunnel, after 1st year of 21k gross pay, second year of 31k gross pay!!! Too bad that the light at the end of the tunnel is a train.

There you go again. Why would the ASA pilots (who have "I want a divorce" stickers on all their bags) vote out people who are representing THEIR interests well in ensuring the company survives while bringing THEM contract improvements? You do realize we still have separate MECs... right? The ASA MEC represents the ASA pilots. You are not an ASA pilot. Go cry to your own MEC.
