It does us no good to threat express flying like it is not real. It is at least 40% of US domestic flying, it is profitable, it requires the same professionalism, training and skill as any other flying performed at any other carrier.
If guys like Tony decide to come to a major, I welcome them. But, we need to realize their flying for an express carrier is a mere distinction, not a real difference.

That's great, but as Luis has pointed out so many times, it's going to be nearly impossible to avoid some concessions on the L-XJT contract. The DC Fund, OJI Bank, and 90% PPO are outliers that no other regional, and many larger airlines don't have. I see no way management will agree to move forward with them intact, but there are some mitigating strategies on the table.
The question you need to ask yourselves is what good are these perks if you lose your job?

Pilots usually screw themselves, in order to "protect" their upgrade. That general leverage is disappearing because of the retirements and the projected hiring. Even the Pinnacle pilots who thought the judge would have given them a lousy deal don't think it would have had a 10 year term to it. Delta knew the only way to screw a group that hard was to get them to vote it in.
Nope, put the earplugs in keep flying; you wont take a pay cut unless you vote for it. If a letter shows up in the mail well hey, job conditions are better then they have been in 2 generations.

I totally get that this company is not going where it should, but until they start offering leaves for line pilots, I'm not worried about much. I think there's a reason why United hasn't dished out a lot of their 70 seaters, and I think that reason is because we don't have our crap together yet. We have aircraft coming off lease, and we have PILOTS. Just wait, once we get a contract, we'll magically start getting 170s...
And by contract, I mean in no way, shape or form a concessionary deal.
And if we don't get a contract? Then United will dish out what they can, but will simply cut service to exclusively 50-seater routes. That's so far down the road though...
Prepare for the worst, hope for the best. I don't like what I see, but who knows what's going to happen.

Honestly, I think you guys should just pull the trigger and approach management with stand alone section 6 negotiations and take the concessions your side is willing to screw the rest of us with and call it a day already.

I had a class scheduled for July 7th and got the call today. I was given the option of crj or hiring pool.

You will more than likely be switched to a crj class. It's not all that bad... our attrition is increasing steadily every month now that daddy D is hiring.

No concessions off the L-ASA contract are on the table. I resent your unfounded accusation that we are going to attempt to take concessions to undercut you. You have officially gone off the deep end. Get a grip on reality Luis.

How can our MEC go on a Section 6 without the XJT MEC? Ever heard of that little document called a Transition and Process Agreement? It doesn't allow it unless all parties agree. I think it would be a foolish move to abandon it and I have a hard time believing either MEC would agree to it. However, I do know that your MEC tried asked several times to get out during their underhanded attempt to screw the ASA guys with their "arbitrated" 70 seat rates. So who's trying to screw who here?
