Further question but whats the situation at xjet? new airframes? from what i can tell the hiring has basically stopped up until very very recently which does not bode well for someone like myself as a new FO. any idea what a new junior fo reserve time would be ? also as there are Cr2 7s and 9s is the flying all mixed or do you have some bases which tend just to fly a specific type and then out of those which ones would be junior if any.

Ok go

thanks.

Do yourself a favor and take about 30 minutes to read through this thread, that should answer a lot of your questions. Also, see other threads about PSA, TSA, Compass and other "growing" airlines.

Things are very up in the air right now at XJT. The CRJ IAD base is closing as of Mar 2015, and as of now 12 of those 14 IAD CRJs will be parked in 2015. The ERJ side is parking airplanes continuously through 2015. With that being said...our performance (both ERJ and CRJ) has been through the roof lately, we are shedding money losing contracts and we are putting ourselves in a great position to move forward in 2015 financially and (hopefully) by gaining new flying that our COO says we are actively bidding on. Coming to XJT now might be a great choice if new flying is added in 2015, but it also might be a horrible one if the airline continue to shrinks. Nobody can say for sure which way it is going to go, nor can anyone predict what will happen if a JCBA isn't reached in 2015, if at all. The attrition numbers are starting to really churn now on both sides of the XJT arena and will only increase in 2015.

Time on reserve right now is indefinite...CRJ-200 pilots fly only the CRJ-200 and the CRJ7/900 pilots only fly those two aircraft.

Good luck...

Great thanks you pretty much nailed my questions there. Quick note but the airframes that are coming out of IAD I assume are CR2's..
With shrinking airframes that would seem like a not so good place for a new FO at the moment. Hmm now if I get a call what to do.. say yes or no.. hmmm..

Is this old news?

United Airlines shifts 36 E-145s from ExpressJet to Trans States | Airframes content from ATWOnline

It's still not completely clear WHERE the planes are coming from. As of the last earnings call, L-XJT was slated to be on track to remove ~95 planes by the end of next year. That was not new news.

Now are these planes going from XJT to the boneyard then to TSA? Are they part of the ~95 planes slated to leave anyways? I don't think they're in addition to the planes that were already destined to be removed. I don't have access to xjt.com anymore so I don't know for sure but it seems like it won't affect XJT.

A lot of guys are getting worked up on the facebook page and I don't get it unless these planes are in addition to the planes they were already planning on removing. Either way it still sucks for XJT. I wouldn't bank on TSA flying them for very long either.

Tough question to answer. If everything stays the exact same for the next few years as it is right this second... you might well be better off going for the fastest upgrade you can get. The problem is the industry is horribly dynamic. Today's quick upgrade may be tomorrows chapter 11. XJT has significantly improved their product of late with some major management changes. It looks like they (SKWY Inc) are committed to having a quality product for a long time. Inc owns most of the ERJ deliveries for the next several years, but all that does is guarantee INC's position as a leasing company... no guarantee who will fly them.

Read as much as you can on all of these forums until your brain melts out your ears .... then go to an airport and talk to some regional pilots.. realize that some will hate their job no matter what.. some will love it no matter what... and somewhere in the middle is some good information that may not apply tomorrow..

Unless you see that XJT gets new aircraft, I'd stay away. The ERJ 145/crj 200 is definitely on the way out. I was told the ERJ was built to be a disposable aircraft with a 10 yr lifespan. All of them are past that now. With that said, if you live in one of the bases, and QOL is most important, it may be a good choice for you as XJT (ERJ) reserve rules are not the worst.

Cal (now UAL) leases all the ERJs for 15.5 years. The first ones delivered are the ones reaching that lease term and being removed from the xjt CPA. All of them will eventually come off the CPA.
