What's the Latest at ASA/Expressjet?

I like it. There are a few things that could have been done better in my opinion but I'm sure everyone feels that way. eg. The Arrival check could have just been called the Approach Check, eliminating the need to refer to a briefing as an "arrival briefing". That just sounds a little off but hey, just nitpicking. I promise I got used to every thing by the end of a 4 day, but I'll be damned if I could remember to say "Set Thrust".

The ERJ side is also implementing it. The CRJ side was done first.
Harmonization is a requirement of the SOC from the merger.
The verbiage and checklist flows try to mirror the best of both sides.
Basically, all the same stuff is in the new checklist, things are just moved around to better spots, some things were eliminated.
The CRJ checklist came from the Canadair manuals. It really wasn't "airline operation" specific. More like engineer specific. There was too much chatter back and forth at more critical times. I.e taxi out, line up and wait and the decent. That really now is just the PM verifying the completed items. Much better if you ask me.

In reality, the old checklist was the jumbled, over complicated one. You were just used to the flow of it and had it memorized, so the new one feels like that. It reality, it is a more simplified version. Heck, it eliminated things from the old checklist alltogether.

Just popping in with a random observation, but isn't it funny how suddenly in the past 3-4 months Management starts parading around these senior captains on the xjt homepage touting how Expressjet is a great place to make a career. Are they genuinely recognizing these folks' entire career contributions to the company or also sending a (subliminal) message to pilots with 10-15 years who may be on the fence about leaving?

They're also touting this as the one regional that treats its pilots with respect, but;
they find ways to give occurrences for a properly used commuter clause rather than give the benefit of the doubt.
They illegally misuse FMLA to manage a disrepectful occurrence policy.
They refuse to put you up in domicile when you're stuck there because you did them a favor in the first place.
And there are many other examples of where the company falls short on delivering a mutually respectful and professional working environment.
Senior management is trying to present a culture that middle management ensures doesn't exist.
Things really haven't changed culturally over the 15 years I've been here and now I'm starting my job search to go somewhere else, in or out of the industry.

Why do you think Compass and companies that have experienced large, rapid growth recently have such low costs? Everyone there is so low on longevity. The longevity is harming XJT when it comes to competing.
