Left XJT on 2/4/2015 after 1.5 years of service
Started at CPZ 2/5/2015
Start upgrade class in August.
PIC time... SIC time.... Who cares??
I'll now be bringing home every week more than I ever would at XJT, even if I waited to be an 8 year FO (assuming XJT was still around in 2021) while I continue to build 121 time and network for a major.
If that makes me a sell-out, I'll gladly accept that.
How does one change their screen name??
Oh, and my July line (1st month off reserve) has 16 days off and 86 credit hours...plus 4 more for working the 4th.
It's not as bad here as people make it out to be....jus sayin

Oh yeah and one last thing. Just because somebody has PIC time and is in the left seat does not mean they have leadership skills, decision making skills, the ability to think critically or interpersonal skills. While in the majority of cases being a PIC does allow one to hone and grow these skills, and while the majority of Captains out there are fantastic leaders, there are still plenty of worthless, pathetic, and completely out of touch Captains who have no business being in that seat, let alone an airplane...the no fly list, shock, contains the same names month after month, ALL of them shouldn't even have a pilot's license. In a way I know what you're saying, but your statement is a cloaked dig at high time FOs with 6000+ hours who are solely victims of bad timing. We're outstanding pilots as well who keep Captains out of trouble with the same if not better skills you listed above than the some of the CAs we fly with...oh and did I mention we do it for 1/2 of what you all make? We are capable of landing an interview just as well as a CA might be, because after all, aren't we all interviewing for a First Officer position?

Technically you are interviewing to be a First Officer, just as you did several years ago at ASA. Your role at another carrier will be that of a First Officer. You are right though, the spirit of the job requires one to have the mindset of a future Captain while serving as an FO. The point I am trying to make is that an experienced FO such as the several hundred we have here at XJT is just as capable of fulfilling the role as a FO at a mainline carrier as a RJ Captain is, especially CAs that were fortunate to upgrade within 18-24 months at the PSAs and Compass's of the world with less than 3000 TT.

I disagree, as the job position that you apply for states First Officer, and not captain. Just being technical vs realist.

Lmao this guy. I left XJT in January for Compass. I'll upgrade in August. My July line...as a junior line holder...is 89 credit and 15 days off. Enjoy that Alexandria, LA layover bro.

Right. How DARE you leave this airline and go to one started by NW pilots for NW pilot furlough protection in order to make your own life more livable. The NERVE.

Unfortunately, the ratio of folks getting the interviews is still heavily skewed toward those with MIL or PIC experience. As a 7 year FO staring down a long road (at a mirage?) for an upgrade, it's hard to stomach the fact that those (yes, even those with the 5000+ hours SIC) who are making the lateral jump with an almost definite assurance for an quick upgrade will soon have one more box checked that I won't get checked here, no matter how many times I save the CAs butt out on line.

I could understand if it's PSA, but compass saw only improvements in the recent contract that came out. They got flying because the flow to dl has kept the longevity low. They won the flying fair and square.
If you were working at a bank and another bank started offering huge pay raises to go to them and you were not in a position to leave the bank with the low pay, would you be upset with the people who leave low pay bank for high paying bank? I think it's a little nieve to blame someone for leaving. I got burned at XJT on day one when I was told at indoc that we were all on the erj even though we had had crj class dates. That's a big part about why I left. I lived in ATL and had to commute to be on reserve for the longest time when the ONLY reason why I choose XJT was for the ATL crj base. Everyone has their reasons for leaving and I think it's immature to hate everyone who left without even considering why they left.
