No. I never said I’d kick someone out of the union for not agreeing with me.
I said, if I were Chairman, I’d make these big meetings mandatory. Of course people will have valid excuses. My point is, if you don’t do what union members are supposed to do, why be in the union? Why should the union afford you the protections they provide if you’re not doing your part?
That’s my point. And I don’t think it is unreasonable.
2. …So It is unreasonable to say I would take your money still but kick you out if you don’t meet MY standard for involvement. Should we still tax Americans who didn’t serve in the military but take away their citizenship and right to vote because they don’t meet some self righteous individual’s personal expectation as a citizen? Nope because that would be absurd and your willingness to do that in a union is no different. Different folks are more or less involved because we are free to do what we want but we still have to pay our share of $ to fund the processes necessary for a functioning union. Those that get involved have more influence over the organization. Those that don’t just pay and support in other ways. The union is not the center of the universe for most folks. Do you really want to be told by somebody who you are paying with your dues what your level of involvement must be? Will you feel the same if that guy demands more than you currently think is necessary? There’s always somebody more “dedicated” and expects more (maybe to the point of ridiculous) than you.
Just realized this discussion started on a thread about jackets. 😜

Good for you. Everyone needs a talent.
You work for FedEx. FedEx is purchasing your ticket for the deadhead. They get to make the rules. Just like if you loan someone your car and you tell them not to smoke in it. They decide it isn't a big deal and smoke anyway. Are you going to loan them your car again? Are you being a douche if you don't. Again, we have bigger issues than not wearing jeans on a deadhead. If you think this is a ridiculous rule, email your fleet captain and tell them that you aren't going to follow that rule tough guy. It has become obvious that you like to argue with everyone. Time to block the ignorant.

Talent? Tough guy? Another one making things personal here. If we were having this conversation in person, it would literally take a minute or two to say all the things we just said in a matter of fact way, like I’m trying to do here. And it would conclude with agreeing to disagree. Like it will here.
It’s not a huge deal. It’s a pet peeve. Nowhere did I say I would not follow the rules. That wasn’t the point. The point was pointing out a rule that seems to have lived beyond its usefulness. And my reasoning for that position is that other airlines don’t care what their own deadheaders wear as long as it conforms to what they require their the paying passengers to wear.
I apologize for bringing up a rule that I think is useless. God forbid anyone on this forum ever doing such a thing while also trying to have other more substantive conversations. Thank you for the indulgence though. Hopefully you don’t continue to think less of me.

I have no idea what this is in reference to. I have no problems with a FedEx pilot deadheading while not being at least business casual, per our rules, if that hasn’t been obvious to you yet. So I don’t have a reason to call anyone out for not being in the appropriate attir

For those who weren’t here. Long story short; some line guy was in a first class lounge internationally, on a DH, not following the uniform policy for DHs with his Company ID on. Chief Pilot is there as well on a DH. Chief walks over to question the offender; stupid answer from the offender was “what are you the uniform police?” Brilliant answer from the Chief Pilot was, “Matter of Fact I am!” Introduces himself.
Nothing like being the subject of an email from the Chief Pilot.

That was the part of that story that always cracked me up. I’ll give him benefit of the doubt that he forgot to take it off. Still, a self-inflicted wound. Name of the game is to stay under the radar.
