Like another poster said let them leave a VM and you decide the best path forward. Simple. Contract is clear when you are required to answer or not.

The bottom line is they can call. You just don’t need to answer unless you are within the contractual requirement periods. Don’t over complicate it. They call outside required periods for other items such as DRFT,VLT and to inform you that your flight has been canceled and you are released or in SUB.

Not quite. (Apparently it's not simple enough.)

"During his notification window, a pilot shall either answer calls placed by CRS

or

return those calls within 15 minutes."
(emphasis mine)

You are never required to answer. You only need to return calls made within the notification window within 15 minutes. During that time you can finish your shower, listen to your voicemail, look at your calendar and any pairings, reference the CBA if you like, and prepare yourself for the conversation you will have when you return the call.

And, who knows, if the need is urgent enough, the scheduler may choose to call someone else rather than wait the whole 15 minutes for you to call back.

I suggest you call CE before you take this advice if operating a trip.

They have called on layovers and I was resting and unavailable to answer. Don’t over complicate it.

Call when I am back on duty.

Let me clarify for your edification. Contract details when you must be contactable or timeframe for returning the call. My point still stands.

Can you post the reference where I am required to answer my phone when on duty?

I stand by my statement, make the call or not I don’t really care! Not being ugly but will not air this online.
