100%, Exactly right, FedEx is going to change our system form and operation so we don't do anything he said?

onyourmom your crying about things here is typical of a group that is like minded. Want everything to change for them. I got news for you, somethings will not change here. Your messiah and his 7 lackeys will not change it either. Best you move on to your unicorn airline job that doesn't exist!

At least you're honest about your lack of point of reference. Never done cargo, so mine lacks as well, but what you stated is a very minuscule portion of pax flying (maybe not the TSA BS&#128514.

I flew pax for 8 years and had two incidents the entire time that needed someone to be called out to be removed from the airplane. A simple call to ops and a conflict resolution employee deals with it not the pilots. But yeah keep regurgitating the standard purple lines and phrases that everyone says to make themselves feel better when we’re 45 minutes late yet to push at 0430 8 hours into our duty day headed to a fleabag hotel trading places in the elevator with regional guys. Oh and for less money.

We go to indoc and they bring our spouses in and they hit us with the same bs. “You’ve come to the right place.” “Ladies your husbands have reached the pinnacle of flying jobs.” We’re all excited and know we’ve made the right choice.

Months go by in training etc. we’re all still excited but the drone of FX’s 4 month long training cycle is getting to some of us but we’re anxious to get on the line and see how great the job is.

Finally we’re out of training and on the line and the looks start to change. No one says anything yet but we’re confused and I can see it on my friends faces. We hear about a few guys from our new hire class leave to legacy x and all think hmm they must have just left cause they lived in a legacy base and want to drive to work.

8 months down the road on the line a few more guys leave. The looks on guys faces are no longer confusion but frustration mixed with some tired. One of my buddies finally comes up to me in the jumpseat room with bright fluorescent lights at 3am waiting to get home at 7am after a week of hubturns and says “this place f ing sucks.” I’m almost relieved at that point that someone finally said it and I respond “yeah it absolutely does.” At this point we’re now ****ed off wondering how all the hype before we came here could have been so blatantly wrong.

Fast forward to today. Over half of my new hire class has gone elsewhere. Bravo to you guys I’m sure you’ve never looked bad as it still sucks here. There is nothing special about this place whatsoever that justifies coming here to fly the ridiculous hours that we fly. There is zero movement while they attempt to unf. uck the system and shrinking of the airline and retiring of airplanes. This goofy place would be like 5th or 6th on my list if I was a regional or military pilot looking to start somewhere right now. Everything they do their own special way that makes zero f ing sense if you have worked anywhere else in your life that flies airplanes. The lies and purple kool aid have gone on for too long. Stay far far far away if they ever hire again.
So why are you still here?

3 passenger carriers here and never experienced a single one make any attempt to start late or finish early. Quite the opposite actually.

FA bull? Ok. Half the time you don’t even meet the FAs in the back.

But keep rationalizing it. It’s so on point with a FedEx pilot who’s ever flown in the pax world.

Yes I was going to reply to that response I received with this, but you guys beat me to the punch. Pilots don't deal with these issues (issues that are far from routine occurences at that). Maybe way back in the day, but not anymore. In fact, it is discouraged; leave it to the specialists.

oh so you never had a trip start past 4pm then finish on the last day before noon? I guess I was at the hottest regional on the block since half my trips were like that

I was stupid enough to wait and hope it would get better. Now that I want out the big pax wave has already gone by and hiring is slowing down almost everywhere so I feel stuck at this goofy op.

p.s. no one does debriefs after flights that aren’t checkrides unless someone does something really wrong or unsafe you dorks

I flew pax for over 7 years at a United regional before coming to FedEx. Did I directly deal with pax behavior issues? Not really. But I sure did deal with a lot of passenger stuff, particularly during IROP events. Many, many times I had to deal with an absolute CF of weather issues, flow delays, maintenance issues, catering, etc. This was often done with very little support/info from the company, and was incredibly frustrating at times.

Fast forward to my first flight on IOE at FedEx, and we were going to be about 45 mins late for a sort delay in SEA. It was so nice to just say "OK, just let us know when you're ready".

I was so burned out on passenger crap that I chose FedEx over United when I came here (I had a class at both around the same time). Knowing what I know now, I absolutely wish I went to United. Hopefully things change here and I don't regret the crap out of coming to this place someday. But not dealing with pax stuff is absolutely a big positive here.

If you are at an airline and you are happy now, just wait a bit because odds are you will be unhappy in the future.

Fedex is no different, our time to be unhappy.
