Hey purple, brown outsider here. Can’t you just say “hey Captain, can we step to the jet 5 minutes early tonight? I want to load the FMC and I want you to watch me to make sure I’m not forgetting anything.” Maybe do that once or twice a month. Would the captains refuse that request?
“LETS STEP TO THE JET SIR!!” Grease you’re not in the Air Force anymore. This is a corporation. Try harder at UPS too

Airborne Express (aka ABX Air now..), we looked at the FO loading every other leg, etc. It was decided not too and, in our case, and for good reason. Our new hires are green (as in the very front end of a career), not what FDX/UPS get to hire (you are most likely picking up a few of ours from time to time). Compile that with short upgrade times and we have experienced several pilot nav errors, some of which are FMC loading. Additionally, my airline remains in the stone age as the flt plan/route is not data-linked, so we literally "load" the entire route (not just a DEP/ARR), winds, descent winds, in additional to performance data. Too many potential holes even with cross-check.
With that said, I do encourage FOs to occasionally do the load particularly when the opportunity is there for uniqueness.

Because FEDSUX has chosen to show their true corporate colors there will be a shortage of highly sought after first officer slots at FEDSUX. The greenness will return to the new hires we see. Spread the word. Run away from the dumpster fire.

I miss most of the guys I flew with at fedex. Miss being able to stay constantly hydrated and stretch or **** whenever I wanted. Miss flying in a flannel and slippers. Wish I would have left earlier though (or never came).
I can’t say I’ve missed a second of sleep since making the jump. Day flying on a NB year 2 making more than what I would have year 4 at FedEx without getting tugged around with **** sleep. People actually unified to hold the company to their word/contract. And not nearly as many company apologists and ladder climbers. Sure wearing a hat blows. But f it…if things don’t totally collapse I’ll have a solid bank to fall back on and more than likely a much healthier/longer retirement from the flying I’m doing now vs what I was at FedEx.

What a stupid statement. Every other airline under 117 has to have both pilots “sign”. It’s only here that people tip toe around captain signing. How about this, if you don’t like something as an FO, refuse the jet! You ain’t gonna get courtmarshalled. Sometimes I tell my FO’s, I already signed. If you dont like something, we will change it. full stop. Much worse consequence for both pilots if the CA forgets to sign because any number of nonstandard scenarios. Why are so many at this company mindlessly brainwashed?

Both CA and FO sign it most other places. And sure the FMS stuff is nitpicking, but it’s pretty insane. Getting treated like a fresh FNG in the navy while flying for “the best job in aviation”.

Hhmm I think you’re possibly on to something…. at some carriers, min guarantee isn’t even guaranteed.

Feel free to translate it into “FedEx-speak” 😁 And this is not an issue with brown FOs because our SOPs are different. But basically take ownership of your own competence if you feel you are weak in an area.
