If and when we get a contract, if it is good there will be plenty of good pilots applying. Pilots have a short memory when it comes to big W2’s.

This is what’s keeping people around. That and to leave now you’ll essentially be writing FedEx a huge check to leave since I assume you won’t get any backpay or retro or APRP or whatever they are calling it.

no doubt, just gotta figure out how to get a good contract…and who says they won’t hire awful pilots again? remember…FedEx was the place to be during Covid, but apparently they still hired some of the worst in the industry….? seems like there’s a long history there with the hiring process.

This is just factually incorrect. They abused 4a2b language over 15 years ago - that's why there's a 4a2c now. Fixed it, right? Goodwill and trust are not relevant to this discussion.

During Covid they were hiring so many so fast they reduced the no 1000 hr PIC. Also there was a period 2016-2019? where you did not need a recommendation to get an interview.

They also relaxed the no degree but I think they announced that about same time hiring shutdown.

Only hiring knows what traits they were keying on. They seemed to have found the sweet spot for causing dissent in the crew force and a way to save a lot of $$$

Lists are all over the place with names of said IC’s. Maybe you can get your hands on one yourself and have a look.

Full of senior SM types. Especially both seats of the 777. What the trips get revised to RF2 and go see the name that picks them up. The 2012 hire 777 CA with RA light green extension line, then a day off then another blue line.

Calendar blockers. Sons and nephews of other IC’s. Cancers.

You try to paint all the 2017 and later hires as the problem. I would unequivocally disagree with that.

Fair. All contracts work based on intent. It is relevant and unfortunately we need airtight intent documented so they cannot change the intent based on their whims. Intent behind 4a2c originally was based solely on using it during financial distress. They clearly changed that intent and are using it in other ways. Maybe I’m just being naive though.

Airbus right now has a right seat qualified instructor who picks up FO draft when they occasionally hold the line so that’s fun. To be fair there are FOs that take it too but not many

so…no other airline was hiring…yet FedEx dropped their minimums with thousands upon thousands of qualified apps on file during COVID? huh…….

since I’m a covid hire I only hear what things were like in the 90s. I’ve heard (and flown with) about the postal contract hires. I’ve also heard of folks getting hired on here and leaving for the legacies (wonder why?) and when 9/11 hit, purple wouldn’t rehire them (folks who told me this story seemed to feel superior to their peers who were furloughed, kinda like when everyone was warm and fuzzy when some left tons of seniority behind at a legacy to come fly for purple during Covid, really rallied the troops that they were at the right spot).

only from what I’ve gathered, not my experience, FedEx wasn’t the place to be until the lost decade hit.

Frog, How many screen names do you have?

If you really look back the airlines have been crap since deregulation. Only since the gov allowed all the mergers and reduced competition have their balance sheets improved.

United had great pay rates from 1999 until after 9/11.
