FDX has a very good corporate flight department. They operate lear 45's Challenger 601's and a Global Express. I think something like 10-11 total airplanes. Bases are obviously MEM, DAL, HRO,and PIT. Used to be that you could work for 3 years and then could interview to go to the line. The way I understand it is that it was a guaranteed interview but not guaranteed hire. Also..... To my knowledge the mins are the same at corporate minus the FEX written. They used to have lower mins that allowed hiring individuals without 1000 PIC turbine.
This all was current to my knowledge about a year ago. I used to live in the MEM area and wanted to go to the corporate side so I researched it a little...... Sorry.... Not trying to hijack the Cargo hire thread

IMHO I'd rather go straight to the freighters if possible, but corporate would be fine too, if only I could get the call from either side!

I had heard that the flow through from corp to cargo was ending. I don't know if this is true or not but just what I heard. I would think that if there was a constant stream of guys putting in three years and then bailing to the cargo side that the corp cp's would try to put an end to it....Just speculation
Either way..... If you can fly for FredEx whether it be cargo or corp you can pretty much bank on having a pretty damn secure gig

Now, one can still fly on the Corporate side, or be a Pro Instructor, or be any other type of FedEx Express employee, for that matter, and after two years of employment (not sure if it has to be full-time or not), if the candidate meets all the listed requirements for a pilot position, AND there are interviews for hiring taking place, THEN the candidate gets a guaranteed interview. A very good way to go about getting in here, specially without a sponsor (primary endorser) on one's application.

My new hire class had the last "flow-through" pilot from the Corporate side to the Line. We also had several Pro Instructors during our Basic Indoc who had just been hired without the automatic flow-through clearly explained to them. It has changed.

I was a flow through Corporate guy, but you're right, that program is now over. If you get hired at Corp now, you have to do 3 yrs before you're guaranteed an interview (IF hiring is going on). AFAIK, the mins are still the same as the line, but the FEX is not required. And Corporate no longer hires less than full time pilots. They used to in very limited circumstances, but no more.
I didn't mean that you could get on as a part time corporate pilot, I meant a part time FedEx Express employee (sorting boxes, dispatching, crew scheduling, etc...). Do you know if that's the case? Can part time employees from the Express side of the house get an interview after 2 years? Or do they have to be full-time employees?

No more metering for Pro Instructors. You must serve 2 years and then be eligible to submit for a line position, but you have to go through the same hoops as an off the street...except that you know more people and have a reputation with the company.
