Rumor has it that the first non-furloughed UPS pilot was just hired.

I'm all for stealing talent from the competition, but a small part of me would like to see new hire slots go primarily to those who need the job as opposed to those who, realizing they made a mistake, jump ship.

That being said, welcome to FedEx, and I look forward to hearing the horror stories of life at Brown.

You make it sound like a prophecy predicted in the ancient scrolls (or a line from ghostbusters).

What do you mean, "biblical"?

What he means is Old Testament, Mr. Mayor, real wrath of God type stuff.
The dead rising from the grave!
Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together, pilots leaving UPS for Fedex... mass hysteria!

Maybe that whole May 21 end of the world thing wasn't so far off after all.

That's kinda funny.

Surely you've seen trends in hiring at FDX. They vary over time. Preference for mil pilots, no UAL furloughed, etc.

When there is a shift it means the door is now open to that type of candidate.

You knew there were a few apps from those guys, right?

"But CA Rosado, those UPS guys really want to be here"

"Make it so number 1"

A much more likely scenario involves lawyers:

The computer picks the apps. I mean is there any conceivable list of qualifications that wouldnt have a brown guy float to the top of a truly fair list. If Fedex tried to go around said list and exclude those guys what would the lawyers say.

I'm hoping against hope that lawyers have absolutely, positively no influence in the hiring process at FedEx. As well, UPS guys, besides their obvious qualifications, are a perfect fit here, for many reasons, and hopefully some will work their way onto our seniority list, along with others out there who are also qualified. But as far as "FedEx going around said list", well I don't think that anyone (outside the hiring process at FedEx) has a "say" in that. I really can't even envision a scenario where it might come into play.

From how they have changed the way the hiring process goes it looks like the lawyers have had LOTS to say about it!

Take the physical exam part. Doesn't that have something to do with a crew member being color blind but still having a 1st Class Physical?
Also, there is no place on the Profile to put your birthdate, perhaps to stave off age discrimination cases?
It sure looks like the lawyers have influence on the hiring process!

That being said, hopefully those getting calls are those most qualified. That would be nice!
