FedEx Hiring
#1721
I think it went to May 2015 Date of Hire.
Delta has 2 year Captains on the MD-88 in NYC from what I've been told.
By the time this trains out, he/she will be on property 3 years. Pre 9/11, upgrade times like this were more common.
Besides, in 2005 when I got hired, Captain was going 4.5 years on the 727.
Great to see this sort of movement! Great to see this sort of movement industry wide! Been a long time coming!

I completely disagree with that statement and look forward to flying with them.
I think those of us who wrote 'new hires' are aware they are not in Basic Indoc today. Technically, you are correct sir Walrus. But, come on man, less than a year on property - they might as well be new-hires considering the stagnation here in the last decade (weren't NB CA awards in 2010-2014-ish, guys with 10+ years on property?).
Of course, this was still just a practice bid. Might it even go even more junior on the final bid?

Make sure to get your shots before heading to Memphis?

Really?! Really?! Like we have never had a position of command prior to FedEx? Most of us have all been Captains at other airlines, or AC commanders at some point. I'll give you that a small few might not have had the opportunity for upgrade, but we all have the capability, otherwise, we would not have been hired.
Annoys the crap out of me when I fly with a guy that talks to me like I've never flown an airplane before. Guess my 11k hours and prior LCA job just don't count here.

In my humble opinion, and based on observation, our system form and night flying make it to where pilots don't get better at Fedex. They have the skills they brought to the company, and they either hang on to them or they don't, but they don't get better.
We were all probably better pilots at the 11-month point here....
