I used to stay here...

Not a golfer but they had a very nice gym, food somewhere 24/7, and even a skeet/sporting clays range. You could get a room during the week for 25-40 bucks. Walls were thin (noisy) and they charged for internet and gym use, but the pool was great and overall it was pretty fun.
When Katrina hit Biloxi it seemed like they got a bit of spike for a while 05-07. Then came the great recession. I booked rooms and found out they closed one of the two hotels completely during the week and only used one (the Veranda). Now abandoned, it looks like a post apocalypse movie setting.
I gotta say it was fun while it lasted. Maybe 35-40 minutes to AOC and some nights I won enough to pay for a week's stay. Of course, there were some nights I probably overpaid too, but gamblers only remember the wins right?
I still think there are similar good deals down there. You likely need a car, but its a fun change of pace. Its not just the gambling...its a nice look at some Delta countryside and a glimpse into the poor past of rural Mississippi.
Great Steaks in Como, and some other treasures hidden around in Hernando south to Senatobia. Go look around...

FYI - The MEM Airport Courtyard Marriot no longer offers the 24 hour rolling rate for us midnight arrival commuting types. Reserve king bed or double queen room via website under no prepaid or discount rate and FDX pilot rate will be applied at checkin once employee sees badge. Checkout is always at 12 noon.

Information only. Take it for what its worth. Trying to convince someone to stay here is the farthest from my mind.
Had training recently. Got in late from J/S so tried a local hotel, in relation to the AOC.
Went to the Fair View Inn on American Way. Yep, next to the bus station.
With tax, $78 per night. No FedEx rate.
Was a little leery, to say the least. Went in an spoke with the night manager.
He walked around to my room and we talked about security. Newer management at the hotel. Owner installed cameras and security lighting around the hotel. When your driving down American Way you can't miss it.
Alternate airport beacon. Room was fine.
What I mean by that is 3 star fine. Clean room, sheets and towels.
TV with movie channels. Internet. A/C blows cold and a small frig.
Security gates that close at 1 am.
Friendly staff and cleaning staff were helpful.
I personally will stay here again in 9 months.
7 minutes to the Airways Training Bldg.

What about for longer stays during initial training? We were told when we interviewed to expect about 2 weeks of BI then about a month off. Can anyone recommend somewhere for longer stays, preferably with a kitchenette? I will probably drive up there, but if they have transportation that's nice, too.
Also, how long is the rest of training after BI through the start of IOE?
Thanks.

Before they moved the Naval Personnel Command there (10 years ago?) you could almost always count on getting a room except on Reserve Drill Weekends. I stayed there for a couple of months during Indoc and Initial Training.
It was approximately a 30 minute drive but it was clean and safe, had a mini fridge and a microwave. It had a car wash and a golf course. It would be worth a phone call to see if it's available.
Hope this helps ... I always found it to be relaxing and quiet.
