O,

Thats CaptJNS. He usually chimes in on this issue.

As for work permit,
I got out of the USAF in Germany and just up and moved to CZ. I used contacts that I made in the AF plus i was slinging drinks paid under the table for a few months to build new contacts as well as work the older ones I had. I also volunteered at a local airport in Prague and was able to start flying on a validated PPL. I was able to get the work permit through these contacts. It was relationship building that took time and money.
This was just my way but it worked.
I had finished the ATPL writtens while in Prague but started them while in Germany.

Hope this helps,
Lifter

Default It can be done??

That's news to me.

Me: 11552 ttl
8872 Pilot in Command on A320
many many Atlantic and Pacific crossings as PIC.
I'm also a TRE in the 320
I hold FAA CAA JAA ATPL's: Types:A320/A330

And to the best of my knowledge, haven't ****ed anyone off when I flew over there in the 90's.

No EU passport= no job in Europe,

unless I'm not qualified........

Starlifter

Is that before or after you have been offered the job you do each year?

Or is it the same company?

You could scrap that whole plan and give Cathay a shot. If we aren't your cup of tea then Emirates might be good. You only need your FAA license to apply and get hired, you convert it during the first couple of weeks.

Something to think about instead of the JAA route.

Ok, I guess olympic has really motivad you guys to go to Europe. Just be aware that most of the airlines in Europe require Type rating, if you are a low timer. Be aware that SIC type rating does not exist in Europe. The cheapest type rating you can get for a 737 NG in Europe is Around 17000 Euroes, much more expensive than the US. This is becaue in JAR country you do 6 takeoffs and landings in a real airplane. The pay is much better in Europe then in US.

Good luck to you guys getting a job,

and one more thing, I talk to my friend that flies for Sterling in Denmark (and yes you need to speak swedish or danish to work for them) he mentioned that hiring has slow down in europe as well.

good luck guys

KAL through various contracting firms such as Rishworth, or GAP, are hiring DECs with FAA certificates.

There is JP Express... part of the ANA group. This airline is also looking for DECs. Crew Resourses is the primary aircrew provider.

Of course there's JAL, Singapore, and Cathay... all reputable companies to work for too. I don't think they hire DECs however.

I'm with the same company I just have to renew the work permit each Fall. It usually is done by November with validity for the next full year.

Yes, having a TR does help (it's better to have hours with the TR though) and you can get a JAR TR in the US. I agree it is minus the landings.
