I have always been honest and upfront. I always went as far as I could to help pilots with family issues and/or sked issues when I was in the BM or ACP roles.
Not intended as a cheap shot. That's what everyone seems to call it. I wasn't there at the table when the policy was made but everyone I have talked to points the finger at you. Why that is, I am not entirely sure. I understand the policy and see where mgmt is coming from. That still doesn't mean the policy doesn't suck!

I have not been in that position, but I can completely understand how busy he is, no problem, lucky enough to be looking while employed...

Cheap shots? You need to take a step back and realize that you jumped ranks and then left...of course your going to get some flak! You were put in a leadership role and regardless of what experience you had before, the seat lock did not apply to you. Not necessarily your entire fault either, but take ownership in the role you took to earn the perceptions of your peers.

The seat lock was/is bad policy that may or may not been enforced or encouraged by you. However, the PERCEPTION is that until you became ACP, the seat lock was not an issue. And when you hire other qualified candidates that you do not know over a good person that works for you, you create a morale issues for BOTH PIC's and SIC's.

In all sincerity, thank you for the good things you did do. I wish you would have just stuck around longer and remained a regular line pilot.

My policy?? Interesting that is what it has come to and called.
This policy has alway a been in place and management has had the ability to modify as needed. It was put into clear print about the same time Rev 19 of the GOM came out.
This is just another case of the spreading of misinformation, anger and lies.
Almost every airline, fractional and dept will require a seat lock.
AA, UA, SWA, Netjets are a few of the many that require you to occupy a seat for a preset time before moving. Why is this one so unfair? Many asked my whether they should bite on the SIC spot or hold out for a PIC spot. I was more than clear in that they needed to do what was best for them and their families and careers. As in I can't predict when the next PIC spots would come out.

Beerplanesbabes
There have been very few to move prior to their year lock. I was one of them. I can't deny that I was given an upgrade outside of that policy. When I was involved in the hiring and upgrades, we had the predicament of many pilots with about 6-8 months tenure and then needing to fill multiple PIC spots. I understand that some got more than aggravated. When I called you for the position, I fully explained the position and policies. If you understood this, why did you accept the spot to only complain about it?
Feel free to vent and tell your experiences of line flying. Just make sure it's the truth. The duty days for Dec will be out soon and we all can see how different things have been since Astro's inception.

727,
Astro is a piece of what drove VNR into the ground, but not the sole reason. Their shortchange in MX and ops was what started bringing water onboard on that boat. VNR's type of operation was different than EAS's as well. EAS crews don't serve/fly as many paxs as other FRAC operators. EAS crews have seen an increase of multi client days, but that isn't the design. The schedulers and management have the ability to change the thresholds and filters within the Astro system.
I truly wish the best for EAS and all the pilots. What needs to be done for the Sked is up to them and management. Screaming here doesn't change anything except getting it off your chest.

Just finished the interview with the EAS folks this afternoon.

Coming from a regional, this place is far above what I'm used to. Great folks, nice facility, shiny shiny planes (no seriously, waxed and everything).

The folks that I interviewed with were great guys, super qualified, and I'd be happy for anybody in my interview group if they got the job.

Run! You wont survive. You have no clue how much work we do. It is a 24/7 job. If you arent working during your rest period you wont get everything done. Stay on the RJ and wait for the big boys to call. I envy peole in your shoes. Don't be fooled by the shiney new jets.

Oh ya. You were real quick to relieve us of our trips to miami and cabo or any where else you could lay on a beach. I never saw you on trips to Dickinson, Baker or Cotulla. What sacrifices you made.

But you never answered my question. Whats the average longevity of an airshare pilot? 2 years maybe?
