[QUOTE=RedOverWhite29;2811358]What are FOs averaging for flight time per year? Upgrade times? How much is the 10/5 the suck? Yes, I know it’s 10 “available” but I just assume I’d be used every day. Narrowing down between Airshare and a regional. [QUOTE]
The average is 4-500 hours per year. 10/5 isn’t terrible, but the 8/6 is definitely a huge improvement and should really be extended to SICs if AirShare wants to be competitive in this market. What’s your end goal? Do you know for sure you want to end up at a major airline? If so go to the regionals, if not AirShare is a great way to get solid experience in the Fractional/corporate world and can lead to better 91 gigs down the road.

Stby FBO is a new policy put in place (rather sneakily in my opinion). Not sure if its because of some incident, marketing or both. It probably wouldn't be so bad but they have been scheduling it 12-14 hours a whack. I suppose you can go home if all is fair as long as you are "wheels up within an hour." Some guys aren't so lucky. Before all this if there was was no trip you were put on stby at home with a 2 hour call out and wheels up in 3 hours which life was good. Stby FBO to some degree always existed if necessary, but mostly for MX reasons, and/or other circumstances but even then you were generally cut loose when all was clear and good. Now it seems you gotta pry after 10hrs. This has been taking place at pilot home bases. So if you like staring at an airplane, that probably wont fly, for 12-14hrs at your home base when you don't have a trip...... this is the job, for you. Airshares stance on that it is "for pop ups." and that it supposedly has helped bail out trips (I'm guessing few and far between comparatively) but I digress. Still not the worst place to work, not a bad road to a major even, I'd say QOL used to be better, probably still better than a regional but that gap seems to be narrowing, and is putting the company more in the same realm of Flex Jets, and NetJets where in all honesty there is probably better pay and bigger equipment. That said, QOL used to be a reason to stay with Airshare and not work for the others. As for the Regional vs. Airshare question still depends on your goals of course, your lifestyle, and where you want to be in x amount of years. I'd say you're gonna get 4-500 hours a year with Airshare average as FTWGearJockey already stated.

Oldtimers advise here. Avoid a job that has airport standby at all costs especially one that could have you at an FBO for up to 12/14 hrs. The list of why is to long to type.

My apologies, I misspoke, Airshare Pilots on an 8/6 schedule will occasionally be assigned in base Standby FBO (average 2 days/month). The same is true for pilots on a 10/5 Schedule, though they must have had already had a Standby Home day in the current rotation prior to being assigned Standby FBO in Base.

So is the airport standby a thing? And if so, if it is only two days a month, does the "average 20 nights per month at home" still hold? (not that I want to volunteer for ANY airport standby position but IF it is only two days AND I still get the time at home, it might be do-able)
Thanks in advance for the info.
